    Default Bergamot scents

So I sorta "evaluated" all my favorite scents and discovered that almost every one of them has bergamot; of course, woods, ambers and musks are there, too (what can I say, I'm an "earthy" kinda girl; must be a Virgo thing), but the bergamot seems to be the most constant note.

Hence, I've decided to smell around for some bergamot perfumes I haven't tried yet. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I actually have that in a giftset that I set aside for a friend of mine. Hmmmmm. Maybe I should keep it, particularly since the bottle's pretty, and it has a tiny little purse spray (I l-o-v-e those!).

No! You hate it! You loathe it, and no one in the world wants it, not even eBay! In fact, eBay has banned it! Don't bother checking the site. If you do, they'll know you have some and alert the authorities! Just rid yourself of it, quick...

Send it to me. I'll get rid of it. I'm a Kingdom disposal specialist. It's very dangerous stuff, you see. You don't want to be throwing that in the trash. You could go to jail for years and years. In fact, your life is in jeopardy with every second that passes and that Kingdom remains in your possession. Just pack it up, and I'll send you my address. You should post it to me right away...

I don't hate it. It reminds me of something, I can't put my finger on it. But what's really surprizing is that I put a tiny dot of it on my hand to smell it, and then took a shower, and my hand still smells of Kingdom. Very impressive staying power - for a body lotion, unseen staying power.

AND I used a salt scrub (as I do every Sunday).

    Go figure.

Ouch. It bites for a blind buy, though (pricewise, I mean).

Definitely get a sample first. From Aedes or Lusciouscargo maybe.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definiteliy look into it.

I'm actually thinking that I should go to some craft or new age store and just get a whiff of pure bergamot. Maybe I only like it in combination with something else, and I'll hate it straight up...

    Hi there!

You should be aware that bergamot is a regularly used citrus top note in perfumes so you will find a lot of perfumes listing it as an ingredient but it may not have very much bearing on the actual scent involved. I have recently fallen in love with the smell of Bergamot and here are my recs for perfumes with a strong Bergamot note:

    • Guerlain Shalimar - EDT has the stronger citrus note
    • Christian Dior Eau Sauvage (Mens)
    • TBS Bergamot Body Range - especially the recently reformulated / packaged cologne spray
    • Moschino Moschino - cross between Shalimar & Must de Cartier
    • Lancome O de Lancome - very crisp fresh citrus green floral
    • Chanel Cristalle
    • Bulgari Eau Parfumee

    HTH ;D

    Favourite (Winter) Crazy Combos

Tabu + Orange Blossom * Hermes Rouge + Bellodgia* Voleur du Roses+ Rose Ispahan * Rasa Extreme + Paris * Wood Coffee + Cafe Noir *

    Thanks for the suggestions, moondeva.

I'm actually surpised, I'm not much into citruses. But you're right, the bergamot is a popular note (to one degree or other). Perhaps I should look deeper and try to figure out how it's balanced out in the fragrances I like.

Yup, as far as I know - it is. That's what's so surprising to me.

I don´t associate it with other citrusses either, I connect it with Earl Grey Tea Warming and refreshing at the same time. Think I am going to get me a sample of Divine Bergamotte myself.

*ahem*... excuse me.. I think you'll find that TBS Bergamot Cologne is extremely gentle upon the pocket!! *You could probably buy the whole range for the cost of a bottle of FM Musc Ravageur and that includes body products!! *:P

I sniffed the bottle again today and realised that bergamot is not just a straight 'linear' citrus like lime or lemon but has a subtle floral warmth and complexity reminiscent of that other timeless perfume note - neroli. *So if your collection also includes many with an elegant, warm lightly floral citrus note that may be the common link. Bergamot is a lighter, fresher neroli to my nose and extremely long lasting. I plan to layer my TBS Bergamot Cologne with 4711 cologne this summer (in extreme heat) and smell divine!! *:-*
