Default Smooth Sandalwood from The Gap...help

Recently discovered the single-note wonder, Smooth Sandalwood, from The Gap. *Naturally, they have now discontinued it (why, for the love of god, do these retailers have to DO this kind of thing????). *Anyway, my two bottles should last a good while, but I need to have a back-up plan for when they do finally run out. *Can anyone say that they've sampled it and suggest a similar scent? *Thanks so much...

I haven't tried it, can you describe it?

My favorite sandalwod is by Tipton Charles.
    It's very sweet and powdery.

I also have Tipton Charles...too sweet for my taste. Smooth Sandalwood is very, well, smooth. It doesn't have that sharp, medicinal edge that some straight sandalwoods have. And the dry-down is pure heaven. Very warm and "bodyish"...I don't know how else to describe it...

Have you tried some of the essential oil sandalwoods? Try out the Aura Cassia brand often sold in health food stores. Also www.naturesgift.com has some lovely sandalwoods. (Remember to dilute them with a bit of oil such as jojoba or fractionated coconut.)

Although it has other things in it, the drydown of Chanel's Bois des Iles (especially in parfum) has sandalwood to die for. Soft, creamy, smooth, not too sweet, clean, dry, and warm all at the same time. Just gorgeous!

BTW- is this sandalwood in The Gap's one note, mix n' match line that they seemingly just put out not even 1 season ago?

Yes, and it's not "seemingly" one season ago...it WAS one season ago! I can't imagine why they'd do something like that. What's the point?

And yes, I'd love to try some Bois Des Iles, but I can't get anybody to send me a sample, not even Chanel themselves. I'd LOVE to try it, though. Oh well.
