    Default What are your soft scents?

    The ones that make you want to snuggle into a soft blanket, read a book, and relax your mind, body, and spirit or simply lean back and close your eyes awhile, mellow you out, put things into perspective. My favorites in no particular order are:

    Hiris
    Arpege (original formula)
    Shalimar
    Helmut Lang
    Snow Angel (Sweetcakes version)
    China Rain Musk (Terra Nova version - much better than Body Time IMO)
    Vol de Nuit
    Eau de Merveilles
    Zen classic (black)
    Teint de Neige
    anything Lavender

    I'd guess that a large number of us are under stress of some sort on a daily basis, and it comes to mind that there are many times we reach for a perfume that calms our souls and makes us smile. These are mine.

    I'm not all that fond of soft scents, so I only have a few in my collection. My softies are:

    Nuit de Noël
    Bellodgia
    Chamade
    La Perla

    Some very good scents have been mentioned. For me, the instant calming effect comes from vanilla: Chopard scents and recently re-found Coty Vanilla Fields (thanks to Ladylonestar, who mentioned it a couple of months ago).

    Also the same emotions (to calm and to unwind) are associated with most of the Hermes fragrances:
    -- Hiris is intellectual soft, like when browsing through the books at an old library;
    -- 24, Faubourg is melancholic sweet, like when walking through the park with rustling leaves under your feet and a little drizzle over your head, but who needs an umbrella?;
    -- Bel Ami is loving gentle, like writing snail-mail letters to a good friend overseas;
    -- Caleche (Eau Delicate) is day dreaming, like in "What if...?" or a stroll through the streets of Warsaw in May, in the wee hour of Saturday morning;
    -- Rouge is cosy protecting, like fireplace and a cup of good old spirit in a Roman castle (I know, I said it before).

    Two more get the honorable mention: Tan Guidicelli Annam and Jacomo Silences.

    Yes to the Chopard -- Casmir will be on my list. I don't really recall the Coty Vanilla Fields as Coty Vanilla Musk is the one I'm most familiar with. I'll definitely have to revisit Vanilla Fields, however. [smiley=wink.gif]

    Hah! *How could I forget Messe de Minuit and Angel!

    "Soft" is relative. *Maybe I should have said "softening". *There are days I come home with my hair standing on end and even go to work that way dreading what's ahead for the day. *My "softie" arms me with a sense of calm. The fragrance doesn't have to be soft, just its effects on me.

    Burberry Baby Touc, such a fragile drydown... Reminds me of a simpler time when mum would take care of everything...

    My softest scents are Tocade, Loukhoum, Acqua Serena, Parfum Sacré, Nuit de Noel, Molinard Vanille, Fleur de Figuier. I'd add Habanita though I only have a sample.
