    Default Unisex fragrances to share?

    Hi everyone!

I posted this on the male board, but thought perhaps its better here? Mods - if I'm not allowed 2 posts the same, just remove one (sorry!)

A recent post by Renato got me thinking... He wrote (regarding Bvlgari Black):

"Girls who have forgotten their perfumes also appreciate being given several squirts of this one."

What are the best unisex fragrances to keep on-hand for a girl who might appreciate a couple of squirts?

I suppose the criteria would be
    - Unisex (although not mandatory, probably a good idea so as not to scare a girl off!)
    - Good fragrance that you would actually use (otherwise I might as well just buy a popular feminine fragrance)
    - Wide appeal (since its likely the only bottle in my wardrobe she'll be able to choose from)

My first vote would go to Creed MI perhaps... any other ideas?

    Thank you!

The first one that comes to my mind is Eau de Cartier, the regular one, that gets me loads of compliments every time I wear it.

My list isn't solely unisex but think some women would try:

    T
    Angelique Encens
    Shaal Nur
    Casran
    Lolita Lempicka Au Masculine
Many in the Serge Lutens line

Scent is such a lovely, simple pleasure!

    Eau des Merveilles
    Eau de Rochas
    Royal Bain de Caron
    Caron Pour un Homme

My list isn't exclusively unisex either but definitely could be shared fragrances, and I'm not sure everyone would like these, but I would like a few squirts of:

    Black Vetyver Cafe
    Royal Bain de Caron
    Dinner by Bobo
    Live Jazz
    Ambre Sultan
    Ambre Precieux
    Coriolan
    Caron Pour un Homme
    Guerlain Vetiver
    Habit Rouge
    Heritage
    Eau des Merveilles
    Angelique Encens (of course)
    Habanita
    Voleur de Roses
    Hiris
    Yerbamate
    Brandy
    Must de Cartier (for men)
    Messe de Minuit

    Got any of those?

Then... there's always Kingdom and Nu.

I would add to the others already listed Thierry Mugler Cologne, Creed Original Vetiver, Paul Smith for Men, Hermes Vetiver Tonka, Lorenzo Villoresi Musk and Ginestet le Boise.

    Helmut Lang
    Acqua de Parma Lavende

How about Gendarme and Carriere. They smell like clean hair and xerox machine mixed. Either one could go either way. Gendarme for lighter impression and Carriere for stronger. Both of these last FOREVER.

I really like Bvlgari Blv and D&G's Sicily. Bvlgari Blv Pour Homme is great and the Ladies Blv is great also.
Black Cashmere is nice and my wife thinks that Bvlgari's Omnia smells great on me.
Many guys like YSL's Nu, but it didn't work on my skin.

Helmut Lang. Helmut Lang. Helmut Lang.

Didn't buy the hype when it was first advertised as "enhancing your own (sexual) BO" but by God there's something in this. Having said that, I get the same feeling when I'm wearing Mechant Loup, so it's more than likely that my nose has lost it.

Just have to add Creed Millesime Imperial -- which I just discovered a few days ago. So if I forget my perfume, I would appreciate several squirts of this one, please!

Wow! Thanks for the tips everyone. I have to say you've managed to change my mind a little about what fragrance to offer a lady.

I'm pretty amazed that there are some fragrances suggested that I would consider VERY masculine! It would never have previously occurred to me to offer a squirt of some of these before. Guess its time to be a bit more open minded

However, the one word I was NEVER expecting to see in this thread... KOUROS!!! Although I think I can (hesitantly!) offer a lady a squirt of something like the manly M7, I'd have to say that Kouros would remain at the back of the cupboard!

    Thanks again everyone!

I was thinking the same thing about hypnotic poison and farenheit. They smell identical to me. If i bought one i would probably get the womens version simply because i think the bottle is cool.

I think a couple of good "womens" scents for guys would be Ralph Laurens Romance for Women and Diors Pure Poison. I consider these masculine florals. Does anyone agree with me? I have read reviews on these scents on makeupalley and perfume emporium that say these scents smell very masculine. Those reviews piqued my interest so i went out to smell them. I ended up buying a bottle of each of them and LOVE them. Especially Pure Poison.

I sampled Pure Poison on paper when it first came out and really liked it. On the strip, it smelled almost like pure jasmine to me, so I don't think "masculine floral" were the words that sprang to mind for me. But considering your comments, and looking at the fragrance notes, I may just have to give it a test drive on my skin!

Sweet Orange, Bergamot of Calabre, Mandarin of Sicily, Orange Flower, Jasmine Sambac LMR, Hydroponic Living Gardenia, Sandalwood, White Amber, Musks.

Let me know what you think when you test drive pure poison.

Definitely, DEFINITELY Eau Sauvage. I'm wearing it today -- it's fabulous. The take-me-as-I-am little brother to Diorella.

Agreed with Helmut Lang, totally and completely.

There's also John Varvatos, which I think would suit a woman (as well as a man) beautifully.

Incidentally, I really liked John Varvatos. Dunno what the consensus is on that one.
