    Hello Basenotes!

I've been stalking this site for over two years now without ever feeling the need to join. I've been obsessed with smells since I can remember and took personal scents up as a hobby after smelling Terre d'Hermès in a rental car. I. Had. To. Have. It.

Since, I've been ordering multiple samples from Perfumed Court to get a grasp on things. I thought Creed GIT was my end all be all until putting on Tom Ford GV today, and here we are. Ready to dive head first into the world of fragrance.

I'll be seeing you all around!

My top favorites (as a beginner)
    - Creed Green Irish Tweed
    - Tom Ford Gray Vetiver
    - Terre d'Hermès by Hermès EDT
    - Diptyque L'Eau de Tarocco Cologne
    - Candie's Men (Don't judge, it works SO well on my skin)

Good afternoon everyone. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm Lucas, lucasai in here. I'm a cosmetic chemistry student.
I'm not new to perfume world, my adventure with them started few years ago. As a student I don't have a big collection - 6 bottles and around 30 samples.

I'm a newbie to basenotes so I need a few days to understand how to move around here.
    Nice to meet you all.

Often on the main discussion boards, there is a lot of talk about about obscure and expensive fragrances and this can be quite overwhelming for a newcomer to the world of fragrance.

The "Just Starting Out" forum is designed to help people who are new to fragrances. You shouldn't be afraid to ask a question, no matter how silly it seems. We aim to provide a friendly area where people can come and learn. It should be a relaxed place but also very informative.

One very important point is helping out where ever you can. We should all try and think back to our early days in fragrance and think of the people who helped us out along the way. The "Just Starting Out" gives you a perfect opportunity to pass some of this information on.

Bear in mind that you are not obligated to post here if you are new to fragrances, but it is sometimes useful to converse with members at a similar level.

We will however sometimes move a thread into, or out of of this board, if we feel it is better suited or more likely to receive a better response elsewhere.

We hope that the "Just Starting" forum will be a gentle introduction to the wonderful world of perfumes. We also hope that some day in the future you will come back to help other users as they start their journey.
“Some perfumes are as fragrant as an infant’s flesh, sweet as an oboe’s cry, and greener than the spring; While others are triumphant, decadent or rich; Having the expansion of infinite things, like ambergris and musk, benzoin and frankincense, which sing the transports of the mind and every sense.”

Hello! New BNer here, just signed up a few days ago and already appreciating everything I've learned so far from reading all the posts.

One question I have: how can we get a fragrance added to the directory that's missing? I'd like to add Pure Tiffany (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=19000664). I saw there was a forum for listing missing fragrances, but it seems I don't have permission to start a new thread there (maybe because I'm a new user?)

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I am new to this site and this is my first post, so please forgive any mistakes. I am just venturing into the world of perfumes but cannot individually identify the various "ingredients" you all talk about, such as amber, bergamon, tobacco, leather etc. Where in the UK could I buy a 'set' of these ingredients please so that I can lean to recognise each one?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello all!

I've have been hanging around these boards for a while and decided it was time to register. What started as a simple search for Perry Ellis 360 Black reviews has flourished into an hobby, obsession, addiction, heck, even a way of life. After finding this site, I've even quit smoking as a direct result for my love of fragrance.

I look forward to learning more from you all and hopefully getting to know some of you.

    Hi All!

Newb here. I've always been obsessed with fragrance, but the last few (ok more than a few) years I really sort of lost my interest in perfume. I guess I felt unexcited by everything out on the market today. It all smells...TOO...everything. Just too... if that makes any sense. Then, last year I met a man who was wearing a cologne that re-ignited my passion for scent! I thought it would never happen. It was Czech & Speake No. 88. I haven't been able to get the scent out of my mind for over a year! That is how I found this wonderful website. I have a lot to learn but I am passionate again about fragrance and that makes me really happy. Looking forward to all this site has to offer and hopefully I'll one day have knowledge to contribute as well.

    Hi Guys,

I was very pleased to hear that there's a forum about fragrances!

I'm from Holland en there are some minimal forums but they're ammateur. (not that i'm a expert but....)
My excusses if my english is not that great but i'm trying!

Since a month of three I'm collecting designer fragrances. It al started with wearing Le Male for a couple of years but i got bored with it. Because so, I started a journey to find a new fragrance en by youtube i found the reviews of Jrwritter and Robes08. Those reviews helped me a lot but because of all those reviews, there is a danger to become a 'mainstream' fragrance user.

And this is where i found this page and forum......

I have found a view fragrances wich I realy like (Issey miyake, Fahrenheit etc) but I'm still looking for "The One"! (by this I don't mean the D&G)

If I look at thing I like to smell, I like woods and forest but not the sweet ones with to many vanilla.
So if you guys have some tips, You're welcome!

    Weclome to Basenotes, Denmannl !.

You might like to try sampling Serge Lutens Chene, Knize Forest, Comme des Garcons Sequoia, Hermes Rocabar, Creed Epicea, and Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, to name just a few.
