Default Looking for a fragrance for my father.

I am tired of him sneaking into my room and using my stuff so I am going to buy him a bottle of something. Preferably something designer around say $40. He likes Polo quite a bit, but I would like to get him something different. He over-applies also. I believe we can agree that 6 sprays of Polo is more than enough. He used almost all of my 2.5ml sample of Zagorsk in two days.

So... something cheap, designer and fresh...

    Huh.

Issey? Actualy, with over application that'd be deadly...
Eau Sauvage? Over application is mandatory here.
    Bulgari Aqua- Definately aquatic.
Armani Code- Fresh-ish, over appliable without any casualties

    Hope I've helped

Is there kind of a cheap alternative to SMN's Nostalgia? He liked that one quite a bit.

Deauville pour homme by Germain. You can't really overspray with it, and it's not "cheap drugstore" juice.

How about that Suede fragrance from Stetson that some say resembles Cuiron.
Guess Suede would be really good for him.

How about Paco Rabanne XS? It's in the right price bracket, and you can over apply without fatalities

If your dad likes Polo, he might also enjoy Hermes Equipage, which can be obtained for around your price point, and is endlessly classy and versatile. It is possible to over apply, but the fallout is minimal.

I don't know about the prices in the states but I'd try to Yves Saint Laurent fragrances, maybe M7?
But once you get locked into a serious perfume collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

M7 is absolutely DEADLY with over-application IMHO. It is alot like Grey Flannel in that respect. I would recommend pour Monsieur from Chanel. I bought it for around 50. It is timeless and begs for some extra squirts. Also try Lolita Lempicka Fraicheur if you want something more heavy. It is not as pungent as au masculin, but stays true to the notes.

I'd go Bvlgari Aqua. Spray like there's no tomorrow and it still won't completely overwhelm the immediate neighborhood. It's an age-neutral aquatic that should keep him out of your collection.

God help you if he finds your Carven Homme and over applies... Perhaps a spray-session lesson is in order.

    Consider it bonding....

I agree with Hasupk@gmail.com, but Giv gentlemen, 3eme Homme, and Antaeus are all easily cloying in overapplication. One spray ONLY for Gentleman, 3 sprays MAX for 3eme homme, and Antaeus better be held to 2 applications under your shirt and coat.

Great suggestions everyone. I was thinking about two I was looking into for myself, but forgot about them. Do you think Zino Davidoff or Paco Rabanne Pour Homme would fit him?

I don't think you could go wrong with Azzaro pour Homme. A loveable classic and very good value for the money.

I can tell you that Zino Davidoff will knock down an elephant at 50 yards if over-applied, so I'd think twice about that one. I agree with the Eau Sauvage suggestion. Maybe Eau de Grey Flannel? Guerlain Vetiver or Tuscany per Uomo (both affordable at discount)? Déclaration or Un Jardin en Méditerranée (it's hard to over-apply Ellena's stuff)? Even L'Anarchiste (cheap and good) perhaps?

Meanwhile, the image of your dad sneaking into your room to douse himself in your scents is hysterical beyond words! :bounce:

I agree it's great, but talk about toxic when over-applied! If it weren't for the over-application issue, I'd suggest Yatagan or Grey Flannel, too.

Check out Tar and Garage from the Comme des Garcons Series 6: Synthetic line.

    Zino, yes. Paco Rabanne, no.

Azzaro pour Homme is a great suggestion. At one point, early on, I remember trying to decide between Polo and Azzaro pour Homme to be my new signature scent. As a result, I have a lifetime supply of both!

Do not forget about Escada PH! This is the fragrance I bought for my dad last year and if he didn't wear it, I would. It smells great on him and he has steadily worked his way through the bottle...I gotta get him a new one ASAP!

I'd go with Equipage as well. I bought a bottle a few months ago and it reminds me of a softer, more timeless cousin to Polo. Also, it's not so lethal in the sillage department.

XS is good, might be a little young. Most of my recommendations would likely be out of your price range barring some good luck, but, I might try some edc strength guerlains for their value and quality.
