It could be that the decant you got was from an older, more degraded bottle... or it could be psychological: Nothing smells better than a hard-to-find gem from YOUR VERY OWN BOTTLE!
I ask this because I bought a decant of M7 Fresh, and while it smelled good enough for me to want to get the full-sized version, it didnt smell NEARLY as good on me as when I first spritzed on some of the juice from the full 100ml bottle. Has this happened with anyone? Is this an anomoly, or is something going on here?

I've noticed several times that samples and decants tend to kind of loose, or at least diminish, the top notes of a fragrance as well as the refreshing whip-effect of the alcohol content. This is more evident when samples or decants are done by spritzing repeatedly into the container.

It's been remarked on before - the spritzing allowing air at the fragrance, and also storage in a smaller container both seem to lessen the life/quality of a fragrance.
Dont know much about decant,
But it is true that samples are sometimes not the same as the spray bottle and yes could it be the spraying effect that add something or take away ???
Or could it be psychological ????
Fresh is probably the right word

Alright.. I noticed another thing with the M7 Fresh tester. On my skin, the after-30-minutes state of the cologne is different from the after-30-minute state of the decant. That is, the M7 Fresh tester smell goes bad on me (it stinks), while the decant stays the same. Do you think maybe its just my body wash freaking out (Suave Aloe Vera)? I mean, I've washed with the same bodywash before wearing both scents. But anyway, I'll ask about the body wash because I've noticed lately that most fragrances smell terrible on me recently. Even ones that smelled absolutely divine before.
maybe something's up with your skin chemistry... illness, or change in diet?Originally Posted by joellark
Not necessarily. An ideal way would be to decant from splash or refill bottles.Originally Posted by zztopp
