Question Issey Miyake - something similar?

My hubby really loves Issey Miyake Pour Homme. I was going to get him another that has similar elements. I think he really likes the freshness as he used to like Cool Water. He didn't mind Guerlain Vetiver but hates Chanel Egoiste' (which I adore) and not real impressed with the Kenneth Cole Black or other similar ones. (Polo Black).
I don't mind the Issey Miyake but sometimes I can smell a slight cat pee smell.
Is it just me? I have a real sensitive nose - whereas he needs to be bashed over the head with the fragrance.

I know that issey miyake is an aquatic fragrance. My aquatics are limited to eau de cartier, and nautica voyage. I like both.

Alain Delon's Samourai 47 is pretty similar, I have found.

To me Burberry Weekend is really similar only less harsh. It has the bright citrus topnotes & the woody drydown.

If you want something really similar, consider Fujiyama Homme. It's basically Issey +CKOne. Unfortunately, it's lasting power is more akin to that of CK One, so I wouldn't consider buying it unless it's price was say half that of regular EDT sprays, or less.

I often see it going quite cheaply on sale down here, maybe that's the case where you live.

If you want something lively and woody, with a summer feel to it, check out Nautica's Latitude Longitude (which also is on sale in lots of places around the world).

Acqua di Gio is your best bet. Others he may like are Polo Blue, Bvlgari Aqva, L'eau par Kenzo pour Homme and Kenzo pour Homme.

Try Lacoste Essential and Cool Play, they are very fresh. But if he likes it fresh and a bit sweet then try Joop Jump. I just tried it today and like it very much.

Your best bet is Issey Summer. Its still Issey, but fresher without that 'pee' smell!

I was also going to mention Fujiyama, but its not as compex as Issey.

Other fresh scent he should try are L'eau par Kenzo and Bulgari pour homme.
    Also try Eternity Summer!

Thank you all very much for your replies!! This is the best site ever. It is great to have some fellow addictees in fragrance. It's funny how some people don't realise that next to your looks - I think your smell is the next 'physical' thing you notice for that all important first impression. And when you smell your own or your loved one's HG (holy Grail), it cheers you up I think.

I also get a slight "uric" smell in Issey. Not really pee but I know what you're referring to (no idea what note it is though.). Its kinda salty???

I also get it in AdG and Best of Chevignon.

I've never noticed a uric note in Issey and I wear it fairly regularly, i cross referenced all the notes in those three and couldn't find anything in common, BoC and Issey both share a geranium note, but thats it really.
Can anyone remember love? It's like trying to summon up the smell of roses in a cellar. You might see a rose, but never the perfume.

I'll second Agua Loewe as being similar to Issey although I would say that Agua Loewe has slightly feminine elements. Another that I've seen mentioned in the past around here as being close to Issey (though I've never tried it) is Inis. Going along the lines of fresh citrus etc but a little different to Issey I would second the recommendation of L'eau Par Kenzo. Similar to L'eau Par Kenzo is Gai Mattiolo Uomo.

I smelled today the newest Diptyque, Eau de Lierre, and it smelled to me almost identical to Issey Miyake.
