Question Can this fragrance be saved? Help me layer Little Italy!

    Hiya Everyone--

I've recently acquired a bottle of Bond no. 9's Little Italy. I do love citrus, and this is by far one of the most true oranges I've ever come across. However, while it excels in capturing a beautiful, green, fresh citrus, it fails miserably as a multi-layered scent. So I'm trying to remedy this by layering it. The notes list musk in them, I believe, but I smell no such thing. I would like to layer it with a nice musk to give it a heart. I've tried Helmut Lang, which clashes with something in Little Italy.

Please give me any ideas as to what I could layer this fragrance with. It's lovely, but it's got no soul. Or much of a body, either.

    Thank you!

What about Thierry Mugler Cologne? I wear Happy for Men (which is a bright citrus) & TM Cologne together often & I love the result.

Have you tried some musk oil, like for example Alyssa Ashley?

Edit: I tried it with Alyssa Ashley Musk (not layered), not too bad, but I`ve never liked Litte Italy much, anyway...

Thanks, everyone! I will look for the Alyssa Ashley Musk, and will try with the Cologne (digging out sample vial!)

Hi, Just a thought. I tried Little Italy and thought it was one of the better Bonds. Sorry to hear it has limited depth. Another one that I had that same trouble with was Frapin 1270. It is also a nice orange citrus fresh one that smelled great at first and then seemed too sweet and lacking depth. I layered it with Chanel Cuir de Russie on first. The smoldering leather underneath the citrus worked very well for me.

It's not a musk, but I'm wondering if this wouldn't be good layered with a bit of Opium?
Scent is such a lovely, simple pleasure!

Some reviews I've read of Little Italy have mentioned that it layers very well with a couple of other Bonds, namely New Haarlem (the coffee scent) and Chinatown. I don't have LI, so I haven't been able to try these out myself yet.

I just got myself a bottle of this, and I'm curious: Does it seem awfully light for an eau de parfum? I was sort of disappointed at the staying power at first but then I realized I don't think I could stand it if it was stronger and more lasting.

It certainly isn't like Bleecker Street or Fire Island. Those last a loooooooooooong time. (On my bod, anyway.)
