    Default Most Masculine Rose Scent

Apologies if this has been a thread on this recently (and I sure there probably has been) but what would you guys say is the most masculine rose scent?

    Voleur de Roses?

It will be interesting to see your comments.

    R de Capucci!!

    also rose d'homme.

Voleur is not really a rose scent, more of a patchouli scent to me.

The most masculine rose scent I've tried is Montale's Black Aoud
Current faves: CdG White, Amouage Dia, Millesime Imperial, Miller Harris Terre de Bois

I really enjoy the rose note and have spent a lot of time trying different scents that contain it. All of these are masculine in my opinion.

    Montale Attar
    Montale Black Aoud
    Rose d'Homme by Rosine
    Égoďste
    Voleur de Roses
    Czech & Speake No. 88

I love Voleur de Rose but I wouldn't call it "masculine" . I'd like to swap out for a bottle of it .

    What about Hermes Equipage?

and yes I would agree that VdR is pretty masculine and earthy.

Montale's Black Aoud, alsoTrussardi Umo has a prominent rose note.

My choices for manliest rose would be:
    Black Aoud
    Iquitos
    No.88
    Richard James
    Attar

VdR seems to be as much about patchouli and plum as it is about rose. It's good. Just not THAT rosey or as manly as the above, all of course, IMO.

    1- Czech & Speake *No. 88*

2- Domenico Caraceni *Domenico Caraceni Pour Homme*

    Top Notes: Petitgrain, Bourbon Geranium
Middle Notes: Neroli Bigarade, Rose Absolute, Tobacco Essence
    Base Notes: Frankincense, Cypress, Benzoin

    and

3- Czech & Speake *Dark Rose*, a superior blend of Aoud and Rose, and, IMO, far superior to anything by Montale. Yes, I have tried all of the Aoud series and all of the non Aoud series in the Montale line.

Nothing compares to No.88 by Czech & Speake IMO. Hard for me to find a fragrance of any kind to compete with it. It could be a bit more concentrated but I'm not complaining.

I agree that Voleur de Roses is more patchouli dominant than rose. A great fragrance. I like it a lot more than I did. Certainly not anywhere close to No.88 regarding raw ingredients, complexity or blending. I sold my bottle of Voleur de Roses but will probably buy another.

I haven't tried Domenico Caraceni. I look forward to it.

I agree that Black Aoud is masculine and smells good, but perceive it as relatively simple and poorly constructed, especially considering the cost. Ultimately it's just the patchouli, rose and musk competing with the aoud. It's sexy as hell, just linear and not nearly what it could be. I do like it.

I also agree that Czech & Speake Dark Rose is superior all around.

Hammam Boquet from Penhaligon´s, dry and subtle rose, very refined although not a personal favourite.
Many of the classic english barbershops have very decent rose colognes/splashes for men, unfortunately often with extremely poor staying power. I wish my Trumpers Rose Shaving cream would be made into a edt with decent output - absolutely marvelous aroma!

Also check out CdG Rose - more unisex but great, Ungaro III - earthy rose.

limited to the ones I've tried, but I have tried a lot, and like too many (m, usex and f):

Montale Attar is the most masculine rose scent
Montale Black Aoud is most addictive & has more rose even
    (unisex)

Another CdG to consider is Tea from the Leaves series.

Oh and Diptyques L'Ombre dans L'Eau if you want a more prominent rose...

BINGO! Without a doubt, Trussardi Uomo is the most masculine scent I have tried that has a prominent rose note. I must admit, however, that I have little or no experience with the Montale line.

Some good suggestions, but while Givenchy Gentleman, for example, is very masculine and does have a rose note, I wouldn't call it a rose scent. My choice would be Diptyque's Opone.

I highly recommend Paestum Rose from Eau d´Italie, a wonderful rose with pepper, myrrh, wenge...its from Mr. Duchaufour. It goes a bit direction Montale, but softer. Etheral and a very interesting rose rendition

UNE ROSE by Edouard Flechier for Edition de Parfums Frederic Malle. I absolutely love the drydown of this one.

Voleur de Roses is "suitable for women and men" the directory says - a uniscent! While some men find it feminine, some women consider it as 'too masculine', I read (both on this board)

Ditto. Lauder for Men comes in second for me, then VC&A.

Still, my preference is for Jazz.
In rotation: Greenbriar (new), Silver Mountain Water, Dunhill for Men (1934), Acqua di Parma Colonia, Habit Rouge EDC, Ho Hang, B*Men, Agua Brava

Voleur de Roses is bewitching. I haven't tried Rosine's Rose pour Homme though and would love to. Not available in Canada as far as I know.

Must be all that patchouli loaded into this one.
