I bought a lot of bottles blind when I started this hobby. When I think back I think it was New Tabarome which I bought at full retail price and had absolutely no clue how it smells. It was my very first Creed.

nearly all of mine have been blind buys...only a decant of yohji homme has led to finding a large bottle......carlo corinto vetyver was a cherished decant that led to a bottle purchase and now the only other decant that longs for a bottle purchase is again a cherished decant of heritage edp<which i looked for after buying heritage blind>...

the first most influential blind purchase was L'Anarchiste<an all time favorite>....it immediately took me by surprise and influenced the direction of my interests...jean pascal is another that has become a close friend and was purchased blind...

My successful blind buys were: Kingdom, Bandit, Black Cashmere, Dioressence, and Habanita.

But, I bought them on ebay, so I did not pay full retail for them. That made them a little bit less of a risk, I guess.

So here are where all the blind maniac's are hiding. You guys don't have the courage to show yourselves on the "how do you choose what to buy" thread!

I also buy most things blind - ironically, thinking of this question made me realize that alot of the stuff that I don't like is stuff I didn't buy blind!

I was really intrigued by Bulgari Black when I tried it at my parents'. I can't actually wear it though, it gives me a headache. GIvenchy Pi, Cool Water Deep, Summer Fizz, all stuff I tried in the store and really and liked, and I still do, but not as much as the crazy stuff I bought blind that I adore:

    Opium EDP
    Xeryus Rouge
    Zino
    M7
    M7 Fresh
    Silver Mountain Water,
Terre D'Hermes (which I just got five minutes ago and really like already)

Some of these I really didn't like at first - most of them actually, which is how I usually react to anything new.

My goodness, I had no idea there were so many swashbuckling blind buyers on this board!

I almost never buy blind, and I almost always sample a fragrance before considering whether to buy it. I dislike wasting money on things I don't like, and unsuccessful blind buys make me very cantankerous and irritable. The few times that I did succumb to buying blind proved to be very unpleasant experiences which I would rather not think about or talk about.

I was looking over my wardrobe and realized that all of my favorites were purchased as the result of having tested first with a sample, decant or mini. The only one true blind full bottle purchase that I have really enjoyed is Bond No.9 Fire Island. I bought this one because I loved the bottle & the nostalgic association I have with the locale. All of my other blind buys(more than I care to admit) have long been traded away or now sit on my swap list.

I'm not much of a blind buy person either. I do get tempted with a pretty bottle though. The only one I could think of that I bought on a recommendation was Curve when it just came out. I am glad I got ahead of that trend.
