Default Is it me or does Pal Zileri "Sartoriale" smell similar to Rush

I checked this out today, as I was wearing the last of my Gucci Rush Pour Homme, and noticed how similar it was to this. Definently check this out if you can.

I have it and actually think it smells more like a refined Envy.

I never thought of it that way. That is an intresting and accurate perspective on the fragrance. I plan to buy and bathe myself in this soon due to its excellent sillage. Even when I was sleeping, I could still detect it. If only they made a shower gel and not a deoderant stick; my skin is sensitive to alot of deoderant sticks so I never use the fragrance deodrants. The shower gels and aftershaves are the only things that work for me. Although, the Gucci Pour Homme deoderant stick is fantastic on my skin. Why did they have to discontinue it. Why!!!!

I think this particular fragrance, is an underground scent that nobody knows about. Just pray they don't discontinue to this one too.

I received my bottle just yesterday. And I tend to agree with the reviewers:that's a copy of Gucci Rush/Lacroix Tumulte (it happens to have both).Refined, yes, but not as "outdorsy" as Rush and its longevity/sillage are TOO poor if compared to Tumulte.Likable, but redundant for sure...

i agree too...must have to do with the cedary/sandalwood accord. however, i relate Sartoriale to a lighter, woody version of Encre Noir... but now that you mention... it's rush + Encre Noir

Sorry to resurrect this OLD thread, but I'm specifically seeking this out as I hear Sartoriale is a 'cheap' alternative to Rush...yet I'm really struggling to find it for sale anywhere in the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think it's very good. It's a boring sandalwood fragrance that lacks character and offers nothing to really sink your teeth into..in my opinion. Its performance is mediocre as well. I blind bought a bottle years ago and was completely underwhelmed. I think a lot of my issues with it stem from the performance, which never really gives whatever nice, interesting notes might be there any chance to shine. I thought I had bought a bottle that was stored poorly or something, its performance was so bad and the scent was so...blah, but I believe other people have the same issue.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yep, that was my fear - and that's why I don't want to pay the £40-odd it's selling for on amazon.

I tend to take negative reviews as much better reflections of a scent than the positive and even the ebullient, and there are too many negative reviews saying similar things to make me want to rush out and buy it. For £15-20 though? I'd try a bottle and see how it goes.

I gotta agree with Buysblind. Performance is definitely lacking.

Tried Sartoriale. Quite nice sandalwood note but the other elements make it smell really, really cheap. Not for me. Surprised people don't mention that it's packed full of this cheap, alcoholic smell. Performance is poor as well, basically pointless even wearing it. Definitely inspired by Rush and there are moments where it's similar, but a waste of money for a sample, I think.

Should have listened but curiosity got the better of me!

    Yup - the main problem.

Do you ever notice people complain constantly about sandalwood fragrances and performance?
Its a soft smelling aroma chemical. This one punches way above its $25 price tag. I got 6-7 hours out of it.

I agree. I never had performance issues with it. Don't know if it's changed or not, but mine was purchased when it first came out as part of the triple set.

While I can't attest to the general culture of complaints about Sandalwood, it's not just the performance I'd take issue with here. It smells really, really cheap - like Zara/own brand perfume cheap. It then has a nice enough sweet synthetic sandalwood period where it's a soft and slightly sweet-floral scent, before drying down in to nothingness and then stays the closest of close skin scent thereafter where it's a vague, cheap sandalwood on my skin, and got the same on paper. That takes all of about 10-15 minutes.

It really doesn't punch above $25 in my opinion. It smells like a cheap knock off. But to each their own. One person's opinion doesn't invalidate anyone else's. For blind buyers, though, it helps to have a range of honest opinions, not just positive ones.

    Which is it?

I think I've been around this hobby long enough now to know when I smell something worth its price.
$25 for 100ml is the bottom of the price bracket. It has to be truly crap for it to not be worth it.
I swear some people just complain to complain.

Both. it's quite a nice note but ruined by the cheap supporting parts - particularly whatever fixatives or whatever they've used in it. The drydown is basically a sweet-sandalwood-floral which is interesting, but still...cheap. And of course non existent on skin, which renders it pointless unless you want to apply to clothing.

I find trying to police peoples' opinions is a fruitless pursuit. Really pointless road to go down - you're complaining about complaining to complain...

The idea that this "punches way above its $25 price tag" is something I would wholeheartedly disagree with. It smells cheap to me, and definitely not like something significantly more expensive. No problem if you think differently. Life moves on. Don't take fragrance so personally/seriously. We all have associations and expectations attached to scents, it's important not to get too upset when they're not met or upheld by others, move on, and enjoy the fragrances as they are. Or, for reference, make the case defending it without going 'for the man', so to speak. It proves nor adds nothing and is of no use to anyone who might read this in future.
