I warn everybody, the linked web site has a 'bug checker' that lands a known bug on your HD! I had that before and it required a special tool to kill the non malicious, but very annoying animal!

Ayala, are you sure this is the best board for launching the interview ?

I visit Helg's blog every day and I never got any bug. I don't know which bug you are talking about but I will ask my boyfriend, who is a computer programmer, if there is any reason to worry abou this (as soon as he wakes up and have had his coffee

I posted it on the Masculine Perfume board because of her perfume Pan, which is really lovely on men. Plus I ususally post anything that is not specificallly "male" or "female" on the male board, because that's where most of the readers are, and that's how I got to know Basenotes - when it was a almost "male only" discussion.

Ayala, sorry about that. I was going to send you a PM after finishing virus checks, removal of all unknown cookies , etc., but as you ask, let me reply here:

I believe the bug is non-destructive. But once you have it, you will keep getting alarm messages about your PC being defective (think they avoid saying 'virus') While the message alarms you, it offers a repair of some sort. The trouble begins, when you allow the 'repair' to execute. (I had that half a year ago). At the end of a lengthy analysis, you will be informed, that your PC has something like one hundred errors, or more.

I wish I remembered the name of that 'Removal' program, but I don't. The thing popped up, after I had allowed cookies from Anyas Site in order to go to her 'Home' and search for the perfumes.

edit: I suspect the source of that undesired program is the same as the one visited in April - the webserver fortunecity.

Thank you , Narcus, we should probably let Helg know that there are these kind of problems through the website that is hosting her blog than!

Edited: Exactly what you have described has happened now in my computer! So I haven't let that happened, and I am not going to do those "repairs". Is this coming supposedly from "Windows LiveOne Centre"?

P.s. I really miss my Apple computer! When my laptop breaks, I am getting an apple again...

Exclamation Re: Interview with Perfumer Anya McCoy

I have seen this now and so I am replying to you.

There was a time in the past (yes, around April sounds right), that there had been a violation of their advertising policy at Fortunecity by some bug-checker which opened a new pop-up window. This happened on my personal *INFO* site and *not* on my BLOG (which has the interview uploaded).
It did not install anything malicious, I assure you, especially if you did not click it. You could just ignore it and it took care of itself. I have never intervened and have never had trouble.

In any case if one is using a PC, one might as well install a pop-up blocker, but I digress.

I have since notified Fortunecity about this and they have amended it. There is NO pop-up window now on my info site.

The BLOG on the other hand NEVER initiated pop-up bug-chechers!! There are ads, of course. Not of bug-checkers.
    It pays to be accurate.....

    Helg,

Thanks for responding to this (and for contacting fortunecity in the past about that). I am glad there is no need to worry about visiting your excellent blog!

Whatever Fortunecity may have 'amended', that agressive bug checker popped up again on the fourth of October when I used the perfume shrine link.
