Default Safran Troublant: too much trouble? 1 ml wonder?

I was seduced by this scent from a 1 ml sample, craving more.

I got a great deal on it as a swap. Now that it's here, I find it's way too overpowering for me, way too sweet, just too much in general.

Has anyone ever had this experience with anything that seemed good in a 1 ml sample but was more or less disastrous in full application?

Yes, I've had that experience. It is frustrating not to have the great pleasure that is anticipated.

I know I have, many, many times! Smells great with the vial, I'll buy a decant and spray galore...then...ewww!

I'm usually the other way around. I generally like a fragrance better when sprayed rather than applied from a vial.

I'm sorry that the Safran Troublant didn't work out for you, that is one that I've been wanting to try.

often. for me its often the difference between spraying and dabbing. have you tried refilling your sample vial and applying in the same way you did from that?

I agree. Newport smells different when sprayed vs. using it as a splash. A lot more depth as a splash. I decanted mine into a mini. I have no experience with Safran Troublant though.
