Insanely popular, hmmm? For women, Hanae Mori Butterfly is the first thing to come to mind. What's your price range?
Thread: OUTRAGEOUSLY popular fragrances |
I need a coupld of ideas of insanely popular fragrances for males and females from the ages of high school to middle age. The reason is I was going to buy some new cologne to be raffled off for a charity my debate team is hosting for Project Peanut Butter (more info/if you would like to contribute go here: http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?t=187466). I need some suggestions for what I should buy.
Thanks everyone.

The only thing I ever smell on American women here in Europe is Angel. It's a total giveaway! I'd definitely go for that one for a raffle, or any of the Angel spinoffs.
For women:
- Angel by Thierry Mugler
- Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana
- Miracle by Lancome
- Jean Paul Gaultier by Jean Paul Gaultier
- Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs
- Rush by Gucci
For men:
- Burberry Brit by Burberry
- Dolce & Gabbana Cologne by Dolce & Gabbana
- Black Code by Giorgio Armani
- Envy by Gucci
- Le Male Jean Paul Gaultier
Best of luck with the raffle

I love Angel, but consider it controversial. It is an "interesting" fragrance that some people love and some people find repulsive. It does sell for an attractive price.
Could you provide some cost guidelines? That would be very helpful.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far, some of my original thoughts have been confirmed and new ideas have been added.
Price guidelines... I'd say under $30 on scentiments/ebay is ideal, but I'd shell out $40 if it were something known for being expensive/popular (i.e. chanel).
Lovely is the one scent I notice is almost always sold out from all the stores. It must be really popular. And it's also a great scent.
Good luck with the fundraising!

A mini survery from this part of the world. I have asked approximately 10 female friends of mine (they reside in Hong Kong or Singapore and who's ages range from 20-35) and asked them what they like. I found that Asians tend to stick with the classics or lighter fragrances.
Here is my list:
Lancome - Miracle
Gucci – Envy Me
Gucci - Envy
Chanel - No. 5
Chanel - Chance
Issey Miyake
Calvin Klein - Eternity
Polo Ralph Lauren - Romance
Michael Kors - Michael
Kenzo - L'eau Par
Cheers and all the best!
Feminine:
