cdr really smells like "horse people" which is to say: horse manure. I'd been thinking about whether this "note" could be used in a perfume succesfully. pretty amazed it's been done already and so long ago. still I don't know about wearing it. doubt I would as often as angela says at the scent bar "reach for it". it could have been more honestly called "merde de cheval" instead of cuir de russie but then who would buy it...
bois des iles was very subtle on me testing it, would like to try it more. would like to swap for a partial bottle is what I'd really like... it seems so agreeable but so subtle, a nice compliment to just a natural smell. but again, maybe that wouldn't provide enough 'kick' for me to often reach for it
either of these I would like to swap for a partial bottle of!
finally, since egoiste thread is so long and old will repeat: to me it smells as american as apple pie. in fact it smells like apple pie or maybe a sweet pipe tobacco (not burning). I'm definitely not attracted to it.
Interesting that another post with pretty much the same title is up here.
I have not tried any of these two, but have heard many good things about them. Although I do not want to smell like horse caca.
