Default Oh The Funnyness ....Alexander Mcqueen Kingdom....oh The Irony

Of all the bad and dirty connotations that Alexander Mcqueen's Kingdom Gets on here from people about how it smells dirty, raunchy, and skanky.....I had the "boys" to wear Kingdom into work today (a normal cubicle office enviroment) And I have had two compliments on it just today...I have not gotten two compliments in the past 6 monthes I think ......off of any of my fragrances in my stash....man the Irony!

Thanks Nearfantastica for the decant bud!

Smells like raunchy vagina. Oh man I cringe just thinking about it.

I really tried to like Kingdom... but I agree with the others. As I said in my directory review, I think as an idea it is a brilliant scent (a truly earthy, visceral scent, challenging and confrontational as McQueen's first fashion shows) but as an actual thing to wear... I'm not so sure. The cumin note just came off too strongly on me. That's putting it nicely. Luckily, I was able to trade with a fellow basenoter for something I'd wear much more often.

I thought I would like Kingdom, so I got two spray samples. It's wrong! It takes a certain woman (....or man ) to wear this. I can't say that I don't have any raunchy, dirty, B.O. type frags, but the "angry poon" aspect of Kingdom strikes me as being violently sour!
I gave one of the samples to my mother, it dissappeared from her house right away.

That is funny. A friend of mine always called Kingdom the "dirty cooch" perfume... but "angry poon" is equally apt.

So you gave it to your mother?! I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there is something wrong with that.

I love Kingdom. Good God, how can you confuse sandalwood and myrrh and cumin with a certain part of the female anatomy? If anything, it might be confused with sweat because of the spices but....

    You guys crack me up!

Well, some get that porno-poon note and others do not. I don't. I wear it, I can understand where the ball-sweat (equal opportunity slagging here, gents) note could be inferred, and I think it really was a kind of revolutionary idea that was also so deliberately counter to the mainstream (like his fashions) that it was deliberately and brilliantly stupid. Whereas some couture is really just for the runways and note meant to be translated to the street, McQueen makes this perfume the scented equivalent of his "bumsters," impossible to wear by most accepted standards and connivingly sexy-ugly.

Really, he was giving the middle finger to the perfume industry, fruity-florals and all. Nothing wrong with that, even if its aroma might go hand in hand with a bad case of fungus.

    Great post; I agree 100%.

As I said earlier, as an idea, I find "Kingdom" brilliant. But, as a real scent to be worn by real people... I'm not so sure. Like you said, though, it is definitely one of those that is COMPLETELY different on different people. This is true, to some extent, for all fragrances, but nothing like what I've seen with Kingdom. On me, it was awful. As a joke, I had a friend try it out, just to show them how bad it was... and on her, it actually worked. Less raunchy and more subdued. It was like a completely different scent. It wasn't good enough to get her to buy a bottle, though, but it was still interesting.

LOL Angry Poon......After smelling my neck collar of a day of Kingdom on it....I can see where the pungentess of the Cumin could smell like cooch sweat, but he either my coworkers are lesbians (and they like that smell) or it must smell good on me!
