    Default Urgent advice needed

Ok, I bought a pair of tanning goggles on Ebay but when I received them I noticed that those dark lenses you usually see on tanning goggles were missing. So this got me thinking. I went back and checked out the auction photo and it indeed shows the goggles with no lenses. It this normal? or are there new types of goggles that don't require these lenses?

the seller states: "A perfect partner for your sunbed session as the lenses promote colour therapy."

Now, I don't see any lens which can be removed from the goggles.

This seller has perfect feedback and has sold other goggles to other people, I am now worried that those buyers might be runing their eyes because of this. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm pretty ignorant on the subject and It might just me.

you might find the photo here

the goggles are made by Super Sunnies and are called Eyeshield IGear

Default They're supposed to have lenses!

The link to the manufacturer: http://www.lucasproducts.com/gallery1.htm

I know this is a really old post, but if there are no lenses in your goggles, that's a problem. If there ARE lenses, but they are not UV-filtering, that's not great either.

N.B. this company's main focus is industrial cleaning products; you may want to see about getting some tanning goggles that are made by an optical company.

Thanks for pointing that out. What's a good brand of goggles?

I imagine that any seriously opaque material with no openings would do the trick; if it lets light through, I'd have serious doubts. If you're relaxing horizontally while tanning, being unable to see anything shouldn't be a huge problem. If goggles not completely opaque, and say nothing about blocking both UVA and UVB... they don't. Ignore dopey colour therapy/other claims.

A Google search should give you some results; a quick look revealed this site and these products: http://www.lewiestanning.com/product...ng_goggles.htm ; http://www.lewiestanning.com/product...ve_eyeware.htm ; http://www.lewiestanning.com/product...ection_box.htm
If they're telling the truth (the incredibly low cost makes me wonder), they should work.

Your best bet would be to go to a reputable optician, and ask; don't waste your time asking at a tanning salon, since they're interests are with tanning, less so, probably, with preventing your retinal damage, and their information is likely to be based on the manufacturers spiel, accurate or otherwise.
