Reliable gorgeous Floret by Antonia's Flowers today.
Slight headache from too much Sauvignon Blanc last night with a dear friend.

The thread about scents from the seventies made me dig out a vintage bottle (circa 1974 and still in perfect working order) of Revlon Intimate. Intimate has more than held up over time and was clearly the model/precursor for the more exclusive Bal a Versailles, released seven years after Intimate's debut and in some ways appears to be partially derivative of Tabac Blond.

At one point considered one of the "seven greatest fragrances of the world," Intimate is a dense floral chypre with a quiet verdancy bedded down on a quasi-leathery base. A rich ylang-ylang plumps the middle, giving a swell at the heart that lasts long into the far tannic reaches.

Splendid headache over here! Still feeling nauseous of the cigarette stench in the restaurant of last night. Only one glass of wine so no blame there

The only antidote: a large amount of the 'happy' scent Pamplelune :bounce:

Parfum d'Empire, Cuir Ottoman. It's so gorgeous!

Tonight, I'll go out to the theatre, casual occasion, and I don't know which fragrance to wear. Could my dear BN-friends please help me decide?

Looked at your wardrobe, lievje, and you´ve got soo many fabulous frags!
Since you asked for suggestions, my would be Cristobal (never wrong, IMHO), or Kenzo Amour (less sillage, I just bought it, and like it very much).
Have fun, whatever you chose to wear!

    I´m wearing Gucci EdP today.

:brolly: (seems like the rain never stops here, grr..)

    Oh, AMEN AMEN!!

Tried on Cristobal last night for my go-to-bed frag AND AM IN LOVE! Beautiful, figgy, jasmine-y with a soft sandalwood ambiance - yummers!

But for today am test driving de Nikolai New York and I think she's got it down perfectly! (As a native NYCer,I'd put it on Mad Ave between 60th and the eighties - or maybe The Cloisters - or Park and 57th - or The Union Club) What a gorgeous sort of unclassifiable scent! Started out like lemon zest and quickly segued into a dusty, rainy bergamot with a hint of ...lime? And herbs and woody moss and amber...and...am afraid to price it.

    Kisskiss y'all!

later: This is one gorgeous frag...friends want to know what I'm wearing - Chinese waiter smiles approvingly...still don't want to price it!

Wearing Sonia Rykiel--I feel so unusually mainstream. Seems I'm usually wearing either niche or classic.

Slept in Timbuktu, I am so hooked! (need a Fish on a Hook smilie) Today I am revisiting an old friend from the package that Musse sent here, trying to find the right words to describe it in a teaser.

    Sampling today -

    Very Irresistable
    Amarige
    L'Instant

Very Irresistable is okay. Nothing too spectacular.

Amarige is intriquing me...I like it but can't decide if it's too cloying on me?

L'Instant is toying with me. One minute I like it very much, the next minute something in it is bugging me.

Datura Noir today. I soaked myself in it this morning and it's already fading. I don't understand; first few times I wore it it lasted all day!

    Hello Quarry

Today I'm limiting myself to one, at most two fragrances... Right now it's
    Un Cèdre by Serge Lutens.

Un Cèdre is a very rich, sweet ambery-tuberose-musk and well to my nose at least some kind of delicious dark jam or marmalade... (hmm maybe I'm just hungry lol). I find it very smooth, but syrupy (in a good way). I really like this fragrance.

Edit: Un Cèdre is now becoming warmer and more plush; I also smell some cinnamony notes waking up and lingering on my skin. Delectable.

Mango Botanical Perfume by White Mountain Yoga .

Smells nothing like Mango the fruit. To me it smells like an other-worldly fairy forest would smell. It's euphoric and uplifting.

Insolence by Guerlain. Can someone please tell me the difference between Insolence and Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. They smell exactly the same to me!

After cozying around for the morning and most of the afternoon in Un Cèdre, I've now changed after a shower into Angel for the evening.

    Top notes: Bergamot, Mandarin
Middle notes: Passion Fruit, Peach, Apricot
Base notes: Patchouli, Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel

I'm not too crazy about the way Angel opens on me... something too floraly sweet about it, but even just 10-15 minutes later it's so beautiful. ~ I'm loving this once again...

Talking Re: SotD Thursday 30 November

Went to work in 10 Corso Como (no meetings). Came home to find my vintage Tabac Blond EdC in the mail, and splashed away. To me, this has all the wonderful strangeness of the modern EDT with about half the vanilla and more character in the drydown. I'm going to bed with a dab of Tann Rokka Kisu I just got sample of. Damn, I'm happy!

Wore Chanel 19 and Hanae Mori Butterfly to work today... I am following Shycat's application advice, (I think) about doing just the forearms and belly so as not to wear out my nose and it is working well ...

tonight I sampled Bond no 9 West side - so far love it, boozy with ylang ylang
SL Musc Koublai Khan - butt crack (refers to the scent impression, not the application site)
SL Arabie - so far love it...mmmm...yum...ahhh...rolling in spices and moaning
L'artisan Passage d'enfer on shoulder...YES! needs more exploration...

maybe I will go to bed with impeatrice eugenie on one wrist and
    l'heure blue on the other?
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins p. 189

What I am loving right now: Shalimar vintage extrait, Chanel Bois des Iles, Chanel no. 22, Le Labo Iris 39, Guerlain Iris Ganache
