I'm going to assume it is for personal use and recommend PdN Sacrebleu. This may not fall into the smoky/burning category, but there is a wonderful deep blue harmony to this jasmine-infused perfume that has touches of otherworldliness.

I'll assume it's for burning and say that Sandalwood is probably the most sought after.

"Mystical" is open to lots of interpretation! :bounce:

I consider myself a "mystic' and here are a couple of frags that have opened me up: Encens et Lavande - Crypt - Figue Amere - Arabie all in the BN Directory.

But I am 'of an age" and live at the sandy sunny beach...you're in the sunny Alps (I guess) ...am sure you'll get lots of helpful thoughts!

    Happy Hunting!

Second Encens et Lavande (SL), but also Passage d'Enfer (Artisan) and Messe de Minuit (Etro)
And maybe one of my favourites: Creed's Angelique Encens. Warm and comforting but maybe not very mystical

CdG's Avignon and Zagorsk are very authentic church scents. One I just bought, Encens Mystic by Crazy Libellule and the Poppies, is like a solid Avignon. Avignon and Zagorsk are around $70, the Encens is about $20 incl. shipping. There's also Shoyeido's incense rubbing powder which is like Zen temple incense ground up and smells wonderful rubbed on your wrist and in your hair, it's between $6 and $19 depending on the type from Shoyeido.com.. Kenzo Flower Oriental has a lot of agarwood. Hope this helps!

Second Avignon -- I've worn it the past couple of days. Nice frankincense and myrrh notes for around the holidays and the longevity is excellent.

Looking forward to sampling others from the CDG Insense series.
