Thread: No patchouli...

    Unhappy No patchouli...

    I need some help please! : )

I'm a huge patchouli fan but my husband detests the stuff. It seems that, very sadly for me, that the past couple of years patch has been a note in everything! My husband has a very high patchouli detector and can find it in almost any fragrance.

Thankfully so far I've been able to get away with Fendi's Fendi and Lancome's Attraction. He detests Angel, which I adore, and Guerlain's Pampelune and Prada.

So what would you ladies and gents suggest for fragrances that have a well blended, aka "hidden", patch note? I'm getting desperate! ; )

    Thank you so much!

Oooh damn, he hates Angel? My ex boyfriend did, too. He hated patchouli.

Prada is another of my favorites, so I'm glad you're able to get away with it. I LOVE Serge Lutens' Borneo 1834, but the cacao scent in it might not be enough to ameliorate the patchouli. Luca Turin couldn't say enough good things about Borneo. I normally shy away from patchouli but in my opinion, it is SO well done in Borneo and I just adore it. Maybe you could try it to see what you think?

A woman that I used to work with wore tons of patchouli, and my boss and coworkers hated that fragrance to hell. I wore Borneo today to a holiday gathering and none of them said anything about my fragrance. Believe me...if they had smelled even the faintest whiff of patchouli they would have mentioned it. Loudly.

    Thumbs up Re: No patchouli...

Have you tried Dioressence? It's a luscious green herbal patchouli. I think there may be some cinnamon in it, too. It has a gourmand quality.

Caron Eau de Reglisse and Bond 9 Nuits de Noho have distinctly subtle patchouli notes.

Have you tried Le Baiser du Dragon? The patchouli is very subtle on me, but this is NOT a subtle scent by any means. It's very rich and complex, very warm and sexy.

    here are the notes:
    Top Notes: Amaretto, Gardenia, Neroli
Middle Notes: Iris, Musk, Cedar, Bulgarian Rose
Base Notes: Vetiver, Patchouli, Benzoin, Amber
    I've trademarked the color bleu

Excellent advice on patchouli there; I could not say enough good things about the Dragon. Prada is one of my big time favorites too... so I'm very glad that you are able to indulge in it.

My biggest transformation in fragrance appreciation has actually been my growing love for patchouli.

Have you tried Chanel Chance or perhaps Flowerbomb? Alexander Mc Queen’s MyQueen also has a wonderful patchouli note in it, but is very hard to decipher… I’d give those a try as well….

    Best of luck!

    Linnea,

Drat! I wasn't clear in my post. He DOES hate Prada and Pampelune.

I've heard of Borneo but is that available here in the US?

Shadesofbleu it's funny you suggest Le Baiser! When we were in Nordies a couple months ago we both oohd and ahhed over the bottle! Upon sniffing it we both recoiled. Sad cause I've heard many raves over it and all the notes are right up my alley. Thank you for your reply!

I will look into the other scent suggested to me.

    Thank you all!

Hi silverdragonfly (love the name by the way),

I am also highly sensitive to patchouli in my perfume blends, even though it works very well with my chemistry! I also happen to dislike Angel, Prada, Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel Chance, etc.

Here are some patchouli rich perfumes that I have found that I can wear without been overwhelmed:

    Jean Desprez Bal a Versailles
    TBS Woody Sandalwood
    Avon Timeless
    Avon Extraordinary
    Dior Dioressence
    Calvin Klein Truth
    Boucheron Initial
    Givenchy Organza Indecence
    Van Cleef & Arpels Gem
    Montana Parfum de Peau
Estee Lauder Cinnabar (not so hidden but muted by the cinnamon / florals)
    Guy Larouche Fidji
    Jean Patou EN Joy
    Paul Smith Woman
    Ralph Lauren Romance
    Sonia Rykiel by Sonia Rykiel

    Happy Sniffing!
