Default Your favorite power house frags

I just wanted to mention how I smelled Polo tonight at Walmart, and I just LOVE it! Super sillage, super classy, and from what I've heard, super longevity, so what are your favorite "In your face!" colognes? I feel A*Men, Opium, and PI coming, so cock it, stock it, and rocket, because if I don't get a shotgun blast of this to the face, it's not meant for this thread.

I'll never stop liking the original Polo.

I interpret powerhouse as not just meaning powerful (sillage, longevity) but also reeking of power. So in that vein:

    Givenchy Gentleman (my SOTD actually!)
    Guerlain Derby and Heritage
    Dunhill For Men 1934
Creed Bois du Portugal and Vintage Tabarome
    Chanel Antaeus
    Azzaro PH

Then there are ones, generally sweet / gourmand / orientals, which are clearly powerful and long lasting, but don't quite fit the "powerhouse" bill for me. Included in those would be Chergui and Body Kouros, plus limitless others that I don't particularly care for.

    Ged
Top 10 (not in order): Dunhill 1934, Dunhill Edition, Terre d'Hermes, Rive Gauche, Habit Rouge, Guerlain Vetiver, Knize Ten, Bois du Portugal, Vintage Tabarome, Green Irish Tweed

Summer Rotation: GIT, Aventus, Erolfa, Vetiver 1948, Guerlain Vetiver, Malle VE, Terre d'Hermes, Bvlgari PH, Bvlgari Acqua, Habit Rouge EDC and Sport, ADP Colonia Assoluta, Chanel PMC, Dunhill Edition, Eau Sauvage, TF Azure Lime

    Crown Perfumery - Crown Imperial

Sillage, longevity, delusions of grandeur evoked in the wearer, even the name - this is a powerhouse frag - Edwardian bling!

Yes, I would never associate A*Men, and Pi with powerhouse. When I think powerhouse I think of a scent that commands authority:

    Antaeus
    Heritage
    Bois du Portugal
    Santos
    Dunhill Edition
    Van Cleef & Arpels
    Trussardi Uomo
    Léonard pour Homme
    Le 3me Homme

I don't understand all this talk about Kouros being a powerhouse fragrance. To me, this will always be a simply frigid.. stark, clean and crisp fragrance...Infact, Ted Lapidus PH is a dirtier, "stankier" (meant in a good way) version of Kouros... I wonder why it gets little mention...

In terms of my fav powerhouse frags (and by powerhouse, I mean a combination of frag that makes me feel strong and visible as well as projecting quite generously).. Ive got to go with...

    Havana,
    Trussardi Uomo,
    Guerlain's Habit Rouge
    Creed's Royal English Leather,
    Aramis (the original)
    Chanel Egoiste
    Boucheron's Jaipur EDP
    Dyptique's Eau Lente
    Gucci PH
Yves Rocher Drakkar Noir (although I swear its lighter than it used to be)
    MPG's Parfum d'Habit
    RL Polo
    LV Piper Nigrum
    Basala...

I'm suddenly, feeling quite virile..and I fear that I just grew a second penis...

Most of my wardrobe consists of "powerhouse" frags!
My faves are: Van Cleef & Arpels PH, Santos Concentree, Gucci Envy, Royal English Leather, YSL M7, Azzaro PH, Chanel Egoiste.

    A bit confused.
Do you want a bold 'super classy' with a sharp edge? Or do you want one mother of a sinus rocket?

If the former then, of course:

    Antaeus
    Vintage Tabarome
    Muscs Kublai Khan
    Tuscany/Etruscan
    Minotaure
    Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouqet
    Royal English Leather

    If the latter:

(I like a couple of these, btw)

    Route du Vetiver
    Jacomo de Jacomo
    Yatagan
    Carlo Corinto
    Platinum Egoiste
    Peau d'Espagne
    Salvador Dali PH
    Ignition by Lomani

    Cheers,

    Mario

These are exactly the responses I was hoping for... All excellent choices, I've seen three different Chanels, a Penhaligon, and two Aramis I want, and I haven't been able to try them all yet, so I don't know how longevity is on them, or sillage, and this is really going to help my purchasing decisions.

As for the definition of "powerhouse", any fragrance that is
A.) Just plain classy and literally REEKS of power
B.) A shotgun of scent to the nose, something that kicks ass and takes names. And, also smells great.

I feel the same way. I always get a tangy, sour type fragrance through Kouros. It's good, I like it, it has good sillage, but wouldn't classify it as a powerhouse by any means.

As for fragrances that I would put into a powerhouse category and which I've personally tried (some already mentioned):

    Vintage Tabarome
    JHL
    Fumerie Turque
    Timbuktu
    MKK
Polo Crest (smells quite similar to green but a little more refined)
MPG Parfum d'Habit (nearing 'personal scent' status for me, damn is it good ;p)

Of all the powerhouses that have graced my seasoned nostrils in my life time, Van Cleef & Arpels PH trumps 'em all. It fits the above description to a T.

Santos Concentree is a very close second.

    Got it !

Then add to my "A" list:

    1. Francesco Smalto
    2. Joseph Abdoud.
    3. Versace l' Homme.

Funny, but I can't recommend Dunhill '34, Azarro PH, Egoiste, Creed's Original Vetiver, Eucris, The original Santos by Cartier, Le Roy Soleil, Pascal Morabito's OR Black or Guerlian's Heritage.

With these, your nemesis is already in your power; You've attained status way beyond CEO ( Galactic Evil Overlord? ) and you're lounging back and yawning as you contermplate whether sending him off to the guillotine or feeding him to the piranhas would be the more amusing choice.

Besides these scents are too 'Old Money.' Elegant, wonderful and opulent, but understated.
Unless you overspray big time they will not be " In your face."

I think Azzaro is pretty nice smelling, but I wouldn't actually wear it myself. Same for Polo Green.

Now Givenchy Gentleman is just scary. Too warm, too sweet, waaaay too overpowering. Scary.
