Default Aldehydic floral with musk - suggestions?

I'm looking for a nice aldehydic floral with a hint of musk - not too cloying or too 'loud'. Any suggestions?

I would suggest looking at OzMoz. I go there when I'm trying to pinpoint certain scents/notes and see what their suggestions are. They have a list of suggestions for each group. Happy hunting!

    Look under "olfactory groups".

    F. Malle's Iris Poudre uses aldehydes beautifully. I hate aldehydes but this one is so well done, even I will wear it. You can check out their website and request a sample to see if you like it. It's really lovely.

Great, thanks for the info, I've been curious about Malle's Iris Poudre!

Arpege was the first thing to come to mind!

I would recommend you to also check out the classic Je Reviens by Worth.

    Notes according to OsMoz:
Top: Orange blossom, violet, bergamot, aldehydes.
    Mid: Clove, hyacinth, jasmine, rose.
    Base: Vetiver, tonka, amber, musk.

Maybe this is a love/hate scent, can be a bit loud, but very special! Definately on the "must-have-sniffed"-list.

You know, when I think of "aldehydic floral with musk," I tend to put some emphasis on the musk part of the request. I find Clair de Musc an aldehydic (iris) floral, and obviously a musk fragrance. Yet it is definitely a floral (on me) with a clear floral presence, and not just a musk. The way the top notes are treated to an aldehydic ironing is reminiscent of the old classics like Arpege and No. 5.

How about Chanel No. 19? To my nose, it's muskier than Iris Poudre (which I also love).

I would like to add Salvador Dali pdt. I just got this and it is soft aldehydes layered on light florals and musk. It has such pretty sillage that it was distracting me all day
