Hello,
I want to give my father a new perfume for Christmas, does anybody have an idea?
The last 40 years he has only used Eau Sauvage (with a very long sillage lol). He once had Safari, which he also liked. He is a strong, ex-military guy with vibrant personality.

Antaeus or (old formulation) Van Cleef & Arpels. Royal English Leather by Creed might also do very nicely.

Latrelle: "What?"
Peggy: "Brother Boy has tried to kill himself. He jumped out of his bedroom window."
Latrelle: "Isn't he only on the second floor?"
Peggy: "Yes, but he hit his head on a lawn gnome."

Sounds like he prefers fresh chypre / fougere colognes of which you will find many available! I recommend:Originally Posted by BabyJoe

I agree about your dad liking classic masculine scents, maybe more on the citrus or green chypre side rather than something too woody or oriental.
Some suggestions are
Baldessarini del mar
Chanel Pour Monsieur (also in the concentrée version)
Guerlain Heritage and Coriolan
Canali PH
Miracle Homme
Davidoff Good Life

I always used to get my dad Tsar by Van Cleef & Arpels. It's classy, elegant, but has definite presence and backbone (my dad is also a strong, ex-military type).

Another Chanel Antaeus vote here.
Actually I think i kind of know your father's tastes, because I also used to use Eau Sauvage and then graduated to Safari. So my serious recommendation is Dunhill Edition, from the Eighties. (Black box, short cylindrical bottle, pale greenish juice.) It is a no-nonsense — but also quite sexy — fragrance that will fit his age and his lifestyle. (But I don't think you should allow an SA to talk you into any of the more recent Dunhills — they are birds of a very different feather.)Originally Posted by BabyJoe

I WANT MORE CHYPRE!
Look no further... my friend... than Lalique (the lion)... smooth, classy.. gorgeous scent that screams "quality"... I honestly feel like a million dollars when I wear this fragrance.... the EDT version can also be had relatively cheap.. however, Lalique's EDP is "godly"
If he likes Safari, he will 'adore' Lalique.. beautiful bottle too!

It is quite the grimmest juice produced in many decades. Anyone want to buy some? Am I doing a good job of selling it here?......Originally Posted by Joel_Cairo
