Thread: Solace Scent

    Question Solace Scent

A friend of mine had been nurturing her ex husband at the end of a long protacted illness. He died this past week and I would like to make a scent basket for her...they were separated, but had children together and she carried the burden of his care for quite some time.
She is a very intelligent, creative woman with delicate features, light brown hair and a lean athletic build. She is a biker and practices yoga. She makes a living as a decorative artist. Spiritual rather than traditionally religious. Obviously a very caring, yet strong person.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you all.

Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." How sad! what a terrible loss.

Your idea of a scent basket is fabulous. It sounds like she might need extra time to grieve and possibly a reminder to take extra-special care of herself. It sounds like she might have a tendency to take care of others and so hopefully she'll heed reminders to take time and focus on herself through this difficult time.

I might include some bath salts (I love Lush's bath ballistics and other bath stuff), along with some of the essential oils for grief and maybe some flower essences.

The list by Pluran is a good one. The one I *especially* recommend for women: Rose Maroc (*must* be R. centifolia, not damascena) - this is a soft, comforting, beautifying, hopeful fragrance for a woman. It allows a woman to glimpse a bit of sweet beauty when she can't seem to find it in her life -uplifting and hopeful. This is the one essential oil I would try to track down and buy for her. AromaLands 'Rose Maroc' in 10% dilution (to make it reasonably priced + it's already pre-diluted) is one I rely on and is lovely. Don't get Rose Otto for this purpose.

L'Heure Bleue will allow the tears to fall if she's having problems expressing the pain. But if the tears won't stop, this is not a good one to use.

I find Apres L'Ondee personally supportive, nurturing and kind.
