Anyone want to add an update?

    1. Antaeus - Chanel
    2. Kouros - YSL
    3. Black Oud - Montale
    4. Amber Sultan - Lutens (my Holy Grail)
    5. Aqua di Gio (it was... when it came out!)
    6. Guerlain's Vetiver (though I really don't like it myself, I feel that it is a masterpiece!)
    7. Egoist - Chanel (I have this, but don't wear it often, but definitely a masterpiece!)
    8. Bois du Portugal - Creed (the best of this type of fragrance)
    9. Giorgio Beverly Hills PH (Powerhouse... could only wear it very lightly... but no doubt a masterpiece)
    10. Cabochard by Grès (yes, marketed for women, but clearly a masterpiece of the leather fragrances)

I could go on... but that's ten for now!

Calling a certain scent a "masterpiece" is a really strong word, at least for me. There's a ton of stuff I love, but I wouldn't go as far as labeling them like that. I think a lot of thought should be put in, and the only one I can think of is Voleur De Roses. It's perfect in every way and it's so much more than just a scent.

Yep, I agree! I guess it's why it took me nearly 6 months to post my list to this thread. Of course, I have tried (and will try!) many more things since then too, and so my list could certainly change if I was only limited to 10

    1) DK Men (aka DK Fuel)
    2) Hugo Boss Number One
    3) Original Chevignon/Polo Crest (too similar to separate)
    4) Caroll & Co. Royal Briar (better than the Atkinson's version IMHO)
    5) 1776 by Elsha
    6) Obsession Cologne (Not the EDT -- it really is missing something)

I am somewhat new to this, so I don't have ten to list (yet!). Once I get the cojones to spend more than $70 on a bottle of cologne, I will undoubtedly have more (and the list will most likely change).

These are not my 10 favorites but the ten fragrances I believe are made of the finest ingredients, with the greatest care, and are composed of the most precious ingredients:

    Aspen
    Jovan Musk
    Brut
    Stetson

Ok let me be serious (it's so difficult) . . .

I'm sticking to MEN and NON-NICHE and only allowing one per fragrance house

    Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur
Chanel Egoiste (though I prefer Platinum so much more)
Dior Eau Sauvage - the mark of simplicity with a touch of exotic
    Herrera (my tribute to Spain)
    Hermes Bel Ami
    Givenchy Gentlemen
YSL M7 (my controversial choice but love it or hate it I think it's a modern masterpiece)
    Mugler AMEN (talk about revolutionary)
DK Fuel (discontinued but never equaled (my american entry)
Yohji Homme (nothing like it has ever crossed my nose and it is such an interest take on gourmand i had to include it)

NICHE umm can I do 100 masterpieces instead? Again, only one entry per house except for Creed, can't help it I still say they are the top fragrance house in the world.

    Villoresmi Piper Nigrum
    Creed Royal English Leather
    Creed Vintage Tabarome
    Regina Harris Frankincense
    Serge Lutens Datura Noir
    L'Artisan Tea for Two
    MPG - Eau de Iles
    SMN - Nostalgia
    Malle - Musc Ravageur
Etro - Messe De Minuit (I mean who would have had the balls to market this???)

    Three things:

1: Why on earth would you bump a thread from may?

2: Why didn't you post in the top ten thread that seems to pop up once every week or two?

3: Why do we even *have* a top ten thread every week or two? I don't mean this in a bad way, but seeing as how there are a plethora of threads of this type, why not have a sticky thread like the female compliments thread, except you can list your top ten in that thread and people can stop making threads for generic top tens. You could have 'new' ones like top ten from 1993 or something, but threads like this would be phased out.

I don't usually get involved in these discussions, but just so I can understand:

When someone starts a new thread that has been discussed before they get "in trouble" for not using an older thread to post in. When someone bumps an older thread to post in they get attitude about doing it. I'm not really clear on what the purpose of an online community is if one can never revisit anything that has ever been discussed before at all. After a while, it would seem that there would be nothing left to say. If someone could enlighten me I would really appreciate it.

Man you're thick. The purpose of an online community is for people to voice their frustrations from their own life by putting people in trouble for negligible offenses or to get an attitude over other people's harmless posts. Like DUH!

    Al

I see your point and I agree with it, the problem for me comes from the fact that there is a top 10 thread even week or so. I know everyones list changes, mine included and I always like seeing discussions, but I think there is a way to tidy it up and make it easier on everyone.

Why not make a sticky like for the female compliments thread, and everyone can post their top tens there? No more bumping old threads, worrying about opening new ones, you can always find your list later and update it, etc.

I just like participating. I enjoy going through the days posts and either adding more or ignoring what doesn't interest me. I think the whole thing is fun.
