Wow, Paddy! That sounds like the acquired, expensive tastes of BN oldtimers. But you do not fit into that pattern. How much, if I may ask, was BN involved in your selections?

Hard to choose only ten, but I guess my list could look like this (in no particular order):

    1. Amouage: Dia pour homme
    2. The Different Company: Sel de Vetiver (best vetiver scent I've found)
    3. Clive Christian: No.1 for men
    4. Clive Christian: 1872 for men
    5. Editions de parfums Frederic Malle: Musc Ravageur (best musc scent!)
    6. Editions de parfums Frederic Malle: Noir Epices
    7. Editions de parfums Frederic Malle: Une Fleur de Cassie
    8. Christian Dior: Eau Noire (best lavender scent!)
    9. Richard James: Cologne (best cologne!)
    10. Boucheron: Boucheron pour homme (best citrus scent!)

Since I could nominate only ten I had to drop Serge Lutens Borneo 1834 (best patchouly scent!) out :-(

I had to give this a lot of thought because I wanted to think I would stand by this list in a year's time. We'll see, I guess. (No niche here, because in Australia it's just not available. Probably a good thing: I don't think my bank balance could take it.)

    Top Ten

Patou Pour Homme (I can’t believe I get to wear something this beautiful!)

    Vendetta pour Homme by Valentino

    Givenchy Gentleman

    Heritage by Guerlain

    Ungaro I

    AD Plus by Alain Delon

Versailles pour homme by Jean Desprez

    Polo Crest by RL

    Baldassarini by Boss

R de Capucci or Egoiste by Chanel (Couldn't make up my mind.)

I would have liked to have squeezed Balenciaga or Portos in the list but I'll have to wait for the top 12 or top 13 list.

Maybe it's because of the old formulation instead of the new one they're referring to?

It could be! What I smelled of GV some months ago was vile, I really have to smell this again.

I forgot to add this tidbit: I thought what I smelled was Chanel's Pour Monsieur. It seems it's PM concentree! Well, I like it, but I wonder what the similarities, if any, are?

Not necessarily MY favourite frags to wear, but acknowledging ones that have been ground-breaking, or stood the test of time, or are highly creative / challenging, or are the best in their genre...

Dunhill For Men 1934 - complex for its time, it's still very wearable

F Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire - best vetiver
Creed Bois du Portugal - best wood
Creed Vintage Tabarome - best power
