    Ahh, where to begin?

Here are suggestions, some designer/some niche

    YSL - M7
    Gucci - Envy
    Richard James - Richard James
    L'Artisan - Tea For Two
    Czech & Speake - No.88
    Caron - Yatagan
    LV - Piper Nigrum
    Aramis - JHL

If I had to pick one 'mainstream' it would be Envy, one more obscure Richard James. I can also imagine wearing these in Hong Kong - the juicy spiciness of Envy and the dusky deep floral suede of Richard James.

Lot's of good suggestions here, but I'd like to add L'Homme Sage by Divine. An excellent fragrance which works really great in the cold. Fantastic longevity too.

I think that the best winter fragrance is Chergui by Serge Lutens. It is great for cold days below freezing temerature. That is my number one pick some others that I use are:

    Carven Homme
    Boss Bottled (ran out)
    Animale Animale
    Dior Homme
    Gucci pour Homme
    Dzing!
    Envy
    Mechant Loup

Really anything that has a vanilla or ambery warmth to it will work well in the cold temperatures of winter. There are some other basenotes that work well in certain fragrances but the key is a warming base.

    I love the cold...

I see. You guys mentioned Gucci Envy and Chanel Egoiste quite alot. What are your descriptions for it and some comments on it. BTW, i was born in Hong Kong but i live in Chicago.

I live 2 hours from Chicago and I prefer to use Envy during the harsh winter weather.

Envy and Egoiste are both amazing spicy and woody scents, but Envy seems to have a much better longevity, sillage and drydown on my skin.

Egoiste has a sweet and flowery topnote, perfect for winter, but I find its drydown too light for cold temperatures. I would also say that it is less spicy than Envy.

Also, since you're from Hong Kong, you might prefer for something more oriental, which Envy can satisfy.

Bois du Portugal is good choice...also maybe YSL Opium? sweet and suitable for colder days.

I think that, if you can wear it without any doubts (i.e. smelling "old" etc) then i imagine that Creed Royal English Leather would also do the job...it just doesnt fit for me

May I recommend "One Man Show" by Bogart...a fragrance which can be found at many e-tailers for $10.

The price doesnt reflect its quality. Its an unusual blend of woody and floral notes with animalic undertones. I find this juice strangely addictive and theres nothing synthetic about it. Its quite potent, so spray from a distance and use no more than 2 sprays. Theres no better time to wear it than the current freeze sweeping the nation. One some days I even prefer it to the mighty Bois Du Portugal...

Geir by Geir Ness is a good choice for winter, actually for anytime, but particularly the winter.

Others I wear more often in the winter are:

    Timbuktu by L'Artisan
    Bois du Portugal by CREED
    Baie de Geneivre by CREED
    Black by BVLGARI
    The Dreamer by Versace

Wink Re: A Good Winter Fragrance?

All my favorites are always considered 'winter' scents ... but i do seem to have an aversion to fresh and most certainly aquatic fragrances.

    Perhaps ...

Michael Kors for Men - refined winter
Armani Prive Bois d'Encens - Catholic winter (see also Avingnon)
Black Cashmere - sexy, almost sweaty sexy
Body Shop Activist - can be compared to Burb's London
Tumulte pour Homme by LaCroix - almost like a cedar closet (excellent)
    Secondskin by Ted Baker

At the risk of repeating myself and everybody else - in this order:

    YSL M7 (original)
    Gucci Envy
Chanel Egoiste (original if you can get it, Platinum is great too, tho)
    YSL Opium
    Dior Homme
    Versace Blue Jeans
