Wink A Mugler Cologne story: A computer mistake for the BETTER?

Well, I decided last night that I needed to replace my bottle of Mugler Cologne. My 2nd bottle of the stuff (a tester in the older packaging that came from a swap with another Basenoter who worked at the time for Clarins) turned and went sour.

Since I didn't want to end up with another dud bottle of Mugler Cologne in the older packaging, I decided to go to Gloss.com (a joint venture website from Clarins, Estee Lauder, and Chanel). Since I love the stuff so much, I decided to jump for the 10.2 oz bottle of the eau de toilette. The price on the site was the normal retail $88, and I added it to my shopping cart. I also threw in one of the increasingly hard-to-find Mugler Cologne soaps for $17 (again, normal retail).

Then, I went to pay, and I saw in my shopping cart that the price for the 10.2 oz EdT had dropped by a whopping $53 to $35, but the soap was still $17. I thought "How could the stuff go from $88 to $35? That's cheaper than Scentiments charges for a 4.1 oz... this could be the deal of the century!" I also had a free shipping code, so I used that, too.

In all probability, the lower price was due to a computer mistake, but it's still one heck of a deal.

I'll close by using a slightly-altered version of a quote from a famous TV news anchor in Houston, Texas named Marvin Zindler. "While these undercharges are not intentional, computers make mistakes. And computers are people. And that's why they put erasers on pencils. Marvin Zindler, EYYYEEE-WIT-NESS NEWS!"

Oh, and those same computers can also lead to good deals every now and then. :bounce:

I got the package today... some of the contents (less than 10%) had leaked from the bottle, but the bottle was intact. But for $35, who cares?
