Post Dolce & Gabbana PH vs. The Dreamer

I'd like to hear your comments on these two fragrances, which from the reviews I've read, is similar. In the end, which of the two would you recommend for a younger buyer (in his 20's)?

The Dreamer for me but I'm an ol' fart. I think it's a much better frag than D&G.

They're only similar in that they both have a tobacco note and a bit of sweetness. Dreamer is an oriental, while D&G isn't. Both are instantly recognisable from other scents.

D&G is the longer lasting, but I get sick of it after a day's wearing and don't want to smell it again for another week (not a problem, given how many scents I possess).

I'd have thought both are suitable for someone in his 20s, D&G being the better all rounder, while I tend to wear Dreamer (and most orientals) more at night.

The Dreamer is not very similar in my opinion. I think that it is sweet and warm in a way. Much more unique too. I'm not really sure what notes comprise this scent but I did wear it for a while and really enjoyed it.

D&G is less sweet and more dry. Not nearly as much of a "girl getter" as The Dreamer. I don't see how they are really all that similar.

I would choose The Dreamer if I had the choice.

Some will complain about the synethic-ness of the dreamer. I prefer D&G but I'd honestly recommend both, or at least sampling them.

D&G is good, but The Dreamer is AMAZING!

D&G is a pretty good all-around non-offensive swiss army knife of a scent. But those get boring. The Dreamer however is so much more rich, smooth, intoxicating, and addictive. You can tell the relative creativity behind each scent just from the names themselves. [Insert random fashion house] PH vs. The Dreamer. Although The Dreamer will not be liked as universally as D&G (that may be a good thing for some people) because it's a bit more... controversial (taste-wise), it is far far faaaar superior in every way.

    I'd go with The Dreamer.

Dreamer. D&G is very good too, but from personal experience, Dreamer is pretty hot - both frags last all day. Dreamer has a legendary drydown.

As much as I like D&G; it is a scent that can be found at more places which, as others have said, makes it more common. They are not similar IMO. Choose The Dreamer to start with.

I have D&G already and the Dreamer is on its way to me. I think I will do a 4-day test when it arrives, alternating each twice. All this Dreamer talk has whetted my appetite for it somehow and I have no idea how it smells yet

just got the dreamer today as well

the opening notes are bizarre! smells like those big fat felt marker pens you use for white boards at school...

about a half hour later a sweet almost vanilla-y starts to creep in...

an hour after first spray and it kinda reminds me of Le Male...

    Some strange shit The Dreamer

    I dislike both.

However, I have to say that, yes, both are suitable to someone at its 20s.

    Thank you.

They are both repulsive, though I would go with the ubiquitous DHPH if you HAVE to buy one of them.

A better alternative to either is "Balmen" by Balmain. An overlooked scent.

Can't take The Dreamer. Synthetic smelling, with the most
    cloying New Mown Hay note.
D&G pour Homme is better, but still not great.

Go right to something like Creed's Tabarome or Vintage Tabarome
or Aramis Havana (if you can find some).

My unrefined and unsophisticated nose (probably due to lack of breeding) has a theory about the D&G. In 1994, someone at Dolce said: "Hey, that Ungaro 1993 kinda rocks, let's fruit it up and put our name on it". And so it came to pass. <grin>

That said, those in their twenties will probably prefer the D&G to Ungaro. But if i were you, i'd try both and choose.

Haven't tried the Dreamer, can't comment.

    Regards,
    C.

Was i completely and entirely incorrect in saying that inside every bottle of D&G there is an Ungaro III struggling to claw its way out back to the light?

Thought i had this one nailed. No one to second or disagree with this parallel?
