To me there is no competition. TdH is an ok fashionable fragrance and N.S. is a masterpeice.

    see this thread:

for my (and some other) opinions. The fragrance does not have much sillage after a couple of hours but does have a devine sandalwood drydown which lasts amazingly well.

yup, hirch pretty much nailed it

no comparison, TdH is bitter and sharp to NS's smooth and rich

on me, there is no real drydown with TdH, it stays pretty sharp and bug-spray like - yes it lasts forever, but it's a harsh note that you wish would go away

whereas the drydown with NS is literally one of the best in my collection.

NS is in my top 5, TdH is down near the very bottom of the frags I own.

They are two very different kind of fragrances.

An Eau De Cologne vs. an Eau De "Earthy".

Neroli Sauvage is far better interms of composition, while TdH has better longevity (no, its not a tie).

My friend, I don't see neroli sauvage as an Eau de Cologne but a full blown Neroli perfume (though it has something in common with the eaux of course). The eaux usually have a different, drier structure with lemons and dry herbs and maybe some neroli in the heart. Also, NS has a base of wood, and a green heart. Its concentration is definitely different.

Mainly though the eaux have a clean, clear texture which is kind of the opposite to musk or richness and I feel NS has a fair bit of that richness.

I envy you because NS lasts all day on your skin (on mine it maxes out at 4 hours - pretty average). However, I found my Creed EDC of choice, Royal Water ...now you would have to test it to see whether its a true EDC or not (you have more experience with EDC's)

Oh, and to the original poster - special mention must be made of NS's opening notes. Startling, astounding and uplifting to say the least !

They gave me a sample of royal water when I was in the Creed boutique in paris, I have tested it a bit but need to do more. I will let you know what I think. I think I wore it twice and liked it one time but not the other. I had put it away for the spring.......

I love TDH! It's been my most complimented fragrence since I got it.

    See this thread - http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?t=191348

But Neroli Savage is a masterpiece! It's one of prizes of my collection. I'll always have a bottle.

I adore both of them, and have no problems about longevity with either of them on my skin, but they are very different. Neroli Sauvage definitely has that 'wow' factor, and more suited to special occasions, whereas TdH is better as an elegant everyday fragrance to wear at work.

The biggest difference of course is the price. NS is about 3 times as expensive.
