Default Controversial: SL Fumerie Turque = RC Royal Copenhagen!!

Please forgive me but I have to share this. I am not sure whether or not I should have started a new thread for this but couldn't see how it was relevant to the other threads already going.

I know scent associations are very subjective but I am shocked that this one is so extreme for me.

Recently a very generous Basenoter sent me a huge decant of Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque. As I tested it I found that it kept triggering a sense of familiarity - like I had smelled or owned it before. Now I love blends with tobacco and leather, but it didn't seem to be any of them....

I went sniffing through my many bottles and finally found the culprits. Royal Copenhagen For Men and a 'dud' bottle of Piguet Bandit that I had purchased off eBay!

The closest was the Royal Copenhagen For Men. It smells very similar to Fumerie Turque to me, minus the deep warm tobacco / leather but I feel that is remedied by layering it with something like Fendi Uomo, Michael Kors Michael for Men, or Storer Monk. Am I completely loco? Does anyone else smell the similarity? Maybe it is because they are both so powdery sweet / honeyed?

    Royal Copenhagen For Men:
Top: Aldehyde, Bergamot oil, Cardamon, Green Note, Lemon, Lime
Heart: Carnation, Cedarwood oil, Jasmin, Orris, Patchouli, Rose, Vetiver
Base: Amber, Heliotrope, Honey, Moss, Musk, Tonka, Vanilla

    Fumerie Turque:
Notes: Currants, White Honey, Candied Turkish Rose, Egyptian Jasmine, Smoked Leather, Beeswax, Balkan Tobacco, Peru Balsam, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Styrax, Juniper, Vanilla.

What shocks you about the note? It does seem a tad sweet (Turkish Rose is very sweet normally without making it 'candied')...

How do you find Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque? Is it very sweet to you?

    No; you are completely loca.

They both have that powdery drydown with a rough texture, but I find Fumerie Turque much more smokey and dark than Royal Copenhagen.

    Fumerie Turke smells like SNUFF
