Thread: Platinum Egoiste question

    Default Platinum Egoiste question

Is this one of those scents that you become immune to, but everyone else around you can smell?

I put this on me and 3 hours later it became weak (to me) even tried smelling it on my clothes.

I heard this cologne is strong and "Crazy" sillage, ect...

I love how it smells on my skin..so does my g/f, but... where's the sillage? is it like Issey Miyake where the smell is there, but I just cant smell it?

don't say that goes for every fragrance b/c Armani Code is a cologne i can smell on myself from AM to AM the next day..its really weird. same goes for Burberry scents. I'm thinking its the powdery kind of note that i can smell real well..since those are the ones that stick out to me, BUT I HATE POWDERY colognes.

    anyways, thanks for the inputs.

I can layer on Armani Code and not smell it hours later, but still get criticized by my room mate while walking OUTSIDE that it is too strong.

PE, on the other hand, can still choke me out if I use more than 3 or 4 sprays...hours later.

I know it has so much to do with individual chemistry, but geez it's weird.
    Lately I've been wearing:
Windsor, Bois de Santal, Original Santal, Elixir, Douro, Endymion, Reflection, Arcus, Marwah

...another thing is olfactory fatigue. Your nose simply gets used to smelling whatever you've got on (just like people who live on chicken farms or near rendering plants don't notice it after a while... but it's not because the scent is any less potent!). If you spray enough that you can keep smelling it strongly hours later, chances are you're nauseating everybody else in the room and are going to make yourself feel ill.

Also, Chanel scents are quite subtle. I don't mean that they aren't potent, but just that they are "softer." As such, they don't exactly disappear, but nevertheless they are considerably more subdued than many of the scents you've been trying. Armani is about as subtle as a bus crash (except for Prive... which are pretty spectactular but cost an arm and a leg).

Finally, G Man, the search function is your friend. Platinum Egoiste is definitely not lacking in discussions around here.

It's one of my faves and it lasts a good while for me. I love the drydown, but if I've been smelling it for a while, I quickly become habituated to it and don't notice that it's still around.

As for the sillage/longevity, that's one time where you might trust the noses of others around you.
