    Default Sweet/smooth + fruit/musk?

I remember a shirt of mine that had traces of VS for Him 1 on it(which I wasn't actively thinking of, at the time, and sort of ignored until I tried to figure out why this happened) I threw on over a fresh layering of Envy on myself. When Envy blended with the dried-down VS, it was sublime.
I figure there are colognes out there that are like this. Can anyone think of any? The sweet, rich smoothness of something like Envy with a (maybe) fruity top, musky base, and perhaps a cinnamon accord of something like VS?Perhaps Burberry London? Something along those lines, but I'm thinking some kind of purpleish fruit to the top as well.

Great recommendation! But wouldn't the clove note in SM spoil the overall effect?

These all seem nice, but really expensive. Niche fragrances are probably too pricey for me. =/

Perhaps you can get decants on ebay or basenotes for $10-$15 bucks. I have tried many of these niches, mostly from decants and samples (10ml decants last a long time too)

The clove note in SM spoils NOTHING!! Just kidding.

Anyway, genvy, one that is fresh, light, a little fruity, with a definite kick of musk, AND affordable might be something like Philosophy Amen. It's about $35 retail and, while it certainly isn't in the range of some of these suggested (like Mure et Musc, which is the standout IMO), it is pretty good for the price. Another that is sweet/fruity with a hint of musk is Rykiel Homme (it's also quite reasonable).

But, as ZZ suggested, definitely check out the sales area. Decants are a GREAT way to try some of these niche scents before sinking lots of cash on them. It only takes once of you doing a $120 blind buy for a fragrance you expected to love, but find you really hate to convince you of the beauty of decants.
