Talking Acqua di Gio for men

Ok, I'm behind the times and just discovered this one. I fell immediately in love with it...it feels so clean and fresh. Most of my colognes have tended to be on the spicy/musky side of things. Now that I found this whole new genre, I'm wondering what are other high quality colognes similar to Acqua Gio. Probably something in the soapy, fresh, clean categoy as I see it.

I used to find Acqua di Gio rather sour on my skin and it had a bitter note to it. Then, last year in summer, I smelt it on somebody in town and thought it to be quite nice. So I bought a bottle. For me, it's a casual scent I wear rather seldom during summer time. I don't get the sour and bitter notes anymore, somehow...

If you're into aquatics, then give Creed's Millesime Imperial and Green Irish Tweed a try. Veeery nice! Although I find them a little too much on the sweet side.

If you like AdG, you might also want to try Polo Black. A little more refined, although rather sharp.

Bulgari Aqua, Davidoff Cool Water Deep for a bluer smelling one, Issey Miyake L'Eau Bleue d'Issey for an even bluer one.

Colonia Assoluta by Acqua di Parma - in my opinion, the 2nd generation Acqua di Gio. I think you'll like.

I liked it at first, but then I didn't. I don't know what happened but I ended up giving it away to my best friend. Not a bad scent though. I liked the apple note in reaction better.

If you like fresh, Platinum Egoiste has excellent freshness in the basenotes which will stick around a long time. In the top and middle notes, it has a distint, loud scent. But the dry down is wonderful. It's fresh and has some unqiue quality to it. sillage is fabulous.

I find OF a MAN by the Body Shop similar to AdG. Have a test first.

I agree that "Of a Man" from the Body Shop is a really good cologne of this type and inexpensive too, $22 for a bottle last time I looked, and that is the list price in the store.

Another one to check out is Unbound for Men (2002) by Halston. It is something of a clone of Acqua di Gio for men but many find it a little better. It can sometimes be found in TJ Max for about $10 for a 100ml bottle. Well worth checking out.

I've smelled the women's version, your right, it's clean & nice, but I for one, want to smell something more than, "out of the shower fresh" on a person. I like an exotic, unusual, incensey type of fragrance, not too heavy, but something other than the beach. (aquatic smell) (I've lived in Florida for 25 yrs, tired of that smell already...lol...) Too each their own, enjoy.

If you like Acqua di Gio, you should definitely try Givenchy Blue Label and Halston Unbound. Trust me on this one.

Second the blue label, i've got a bottle myself. I'm actually not very fond of AdG or the Blue label, I find them to be VERY bland and boring.

I am a fan of the MI or GIT though, are they even in the same category?

For a fresh, soapy-clean scent on a guy...I really like Gendarme and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male. Both drive me crazy!!
