Well i bought this recently...coz i was looking to buy some floral frags that men could wear...and i think its really nice...infact i wore it yesterday....and it lasted quite a while...and fairly decent sillage...i could get whiff of it 5-6 hrs later as well....the bottle itself is a work of art....it is infact one of the most unusual and pretty bottles that i have ever seen...the chrome back just exhudes class....

IMO it smells quite similar (almost identical) to Dune for women by Christian Dior....Anyone else out there who would corroborate my statement?

Got a decant of 'Kingdom' - love it! The spices are so unique, I like it because there is NO OTHER SCENT that quite smells like it (although I haven't smelled Dune...?)

Please try a sample/decant before you buy - this is a LOVE/HATE scent, for sure.

I have Kingdom and I think it's a soft, powdery, not-unpleasant scent. The cumin note has been sighted as evoking the smell of a "working girl" at her day's end. It's definitely a feminine scent. Not sure about the Dune connection. I haven't worn it in public yet. In reality, for me the world is confusing enough as it is.

I have both Kingdom and Dune for women. I find Kingdom very unique, intoxicating, offensive, and a challenge to wear. I wear it occasionally when I don't plan to be going out in public. I usually regret putting it on even though I can't stop smelling my wrist. I get no resemblance whatsoever to Dune.

The comparison that comes to my mind is Eau D'Hermès, that was created in 1951 by Edmond Roudnitska. I don't know Dune, but the similarites between Kingdom and Eau d'Hermès are obvious: both have a strong cumin note. Kingdom is more intense, the kind of intensity that has Costume National Scent Intense

I have the edp. The Moisturizing Body Lotion is also excellent and could be an interesting alternative and lasts for hours.

When it first came out, I was asking the lady at the perfume outlet, I always go to, what smells exotic & different. She sprayed this on me, and yowsa!!! It was to me, not a pleasant or an attractive scent for anybody to wear, but that's just my opinion. It was an immediate "no", for me, and I've never revisited it since. It's either a love/hate scent, so if you like it, go for it!!! I didn't find it particulary feminine or masculine, just unpleasant...sorry.

Kingdom smells like my right armpit when I am somewhat aroused.
    In a good way.
I know that sounds weird, but I can't help it, it's true.

Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." I recently recieved a full bottle plus body lotion of this one and I love it to bits. Can wear it to work or going out clubbing, it doesn't really matter, I feel very comfortable in it.

Me too!! This has been my HG since I bought it in 2000. I wouldn't be without it, the Parfum is beautiful, also the Summer EDT is a really good interpretation, lots of pepper!

It's got some woods in it, but it's still a feminine scent.

I bought a bottle of it for my ladyfriend, who was amazed when I told her some men wear it, as to her it's not a man's scent, but she does refer to it as a butch scent.

As that gal used to say in the Irish Spring commercial, "manly, yes, but I like it, too!"
Somehow, I mixed that one up. Right?

I love the stuff as well. It was the first fragrance where I came in contact with an overt cumin note. Since then, I've gone out of my way to find similar scents: Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan and The Different Company Rose Poivree. I've heard that Red Giorgio of Beverly Hills has the same kind of smell but I haven't the nerve to fork out the bucks for a bottle on eBay. And actually KISS Him has a strong cumin note as well and reminds me a lot of Kingdom. Say what you will, but KISS Him is a really good frag!

I haven't been able to find the Limited Edition summer versions of Kingdom, but I'd love to try. Anyone care to comment of them?

I don't get anything feminine about this. To me the cumin cancels the jasmine in the first few seconds. I love it and am already grieving that it has been discontinued. It is very masculine and I get compliments on it whenever I wear it. It's loaded with myrrh and sandalwood. However, please test this one first. I know many people hate it. I think they should just give it a few minutes before washing it off.

Please take note, the only McQueen fragrance that is spectacular (imho) is Kingdom - the original. The others are too normal and unremarkable. The rest are variations of floral scents and have been done before. I think Mr. McQueen went from creating something artistic to trying to make money.

Well, disappointingly, all I could get from Kingdom was musty lemons. It also faded very quickly on my skin. Definitely one to test thoroughly before committing. I don't see why it wouldn't work for a man, though. Citrus is quite manly after all.

I bought this as it was going cheap in the edp form after reading about it's notoriety and i have to say it totally underwhelmed me i couldn't find anything offensive in the notes of this at all just smelt slightly fruity and wishy washy to me with minimum longevity .

Was going through the Kingdom threads and felt the urge to bump it up. Only have samples of Kingdom which I'm reserving for specific occasions (what these are, I'm not sure) but it's one of the most intriguing designer scents I own. All I get from Kingdom is a dirty rose (dirty from the cumin I suppose) and it's feels dark, sinister -- like evil sex if that even makes sense. I don't think I'll ever get a full bottle as it won't get much mileage out of it, but I'm glad I've gotten to try it and have several samples more to enjoy.

Heck yeah, I'm glad your bump here reminded me that I'm going to wear Kingdom soon. I too get the dirty, wet, cumin tinged rose. I don't Rtamara's armpit sadly, or anyone's armpit. Kingdom is really great stuff and even macho.

I've only got the 50ml bottle. Wish I'd gotten the 100ml when it was available. I think the stuff is all edp anyway. Seems to get richer and more rose-resinous the longer the day goes on.

I've read a lot of "the smell of S*X" posts and threads but for some reason this takes the cake. I've read the same about D&G by Man, but that's more escort gigolo boy to me. Kingdom just reminds me of ... well I'm too much of a forum prude to say it.

Kingdom is very much a unisex with that cumin so prominent. I do think it must smell like a sexy dandy's armpit: all florals, musk and cumin.

Since the tragic death of Alexander McQueen, the prices of this have skyrocketed. A set of EDP, a mini and bath gel now go for $499 USD.

The notes read very much as masculine:

Top notes: orange, mandarin orange, mint, neroli, bergamot and lemon

Middle notes: carnation, ginger, rhubarb, jasmine, celery seeds and rose

Base notes are amber, musk and oakmoss.

Quite distinctive stuff. I have a mini of it & wear it occasionally when the weather is cooler. I don't find it dirty at all... Rose 31 is more armpit-ty to my nose.

i find that the discussion above does not seem to distinguish between kingdom edt and edp. i think it is impt as they smell quite different. the edp is the one that smells "dirty".

I wear this, it's a dry, dirty animalic rose, so it ticks a lot of boxes there. Great bottle too!

A great fragrance IMO and not feminine to my nose though I could see either sex sporting it. I find it to be a sexy fragrance, a bit raw though extremely well blended. I have the EDP.
