Default Ancient Perfume Exhibition in Rome

This may be interesting to anyone living in (or traveling to) Rome:

The perfumes of Aphrodite and the secret of oil
    14 March - 2 September 2007
    Palazzo Caffarelli
Musei Capitolini, piazza del Campidoglio 1, Rome

The New York Times reported about this exhibition yesterday:

On display are four perfumes recreated by a team of archaeologists from 14 original fragrances dating from 4,000 years ago. Digging at the Pyrgos-Mavroraki site in Cyprus, they turned up a complex believed to have been used as a perfume lab.

I'm not going to be anywhere near Rome this year and I'm still wildly thrilled to hear about it. My husband had just mentioned seeing it in the news yesterday and I was amazed not to find it all over the fume blogs, but I suppose the world of perfume and archeology don't usually overlap much. Here's the link for the museum's website:

I find it quite special too, and I wish there were more exhibitions related to the culture of smell. The combination of archaeology and perfume is something that deserves to be further explored scientifically, but I'm sure it would also draw the attention of large audiences.

The link to the museum was embedded in the blue title, btw

I had heard briefly about the place in Cyprus a few months ago. But I didn't expect things to be within reach now. Thank you so much, Marcello! This really is news.
