    Default Antaeus experience

I was in the pharmacy (drugstore to those on the other side of the Atlantic) last night and spotted a 100ml bottle of Antaeus. I've been terribly curious about this one ever since reading some of the glowing reviews on this site. Since there was only one bottle and I hadn't seen others elsewhere, I decided to buy blind (even though it was on the expensive side)

At home I sprayed some on to my arm (still in the car, first big mistake!). The first minute was an incredible disappointment. Not only did it smell like women's perfume, but it smelled like cheap, loud women's perfume. I scuttled inside and settled on to a couch, trying not to think about the waste of money...

About half an hour later I started to smell this red, mystic berry aroma . . . I checked if it was the deodorant I had sprayed at the gym earlier - no, it wasn't. It was the Antaeus starting to come alive! The rest of the drydown was incredibly beautiful, kind of like Havana in a previous life, with added beeswax and a touch of powder.

The next morning it was still around, although I noticed notes that hadn't seemed to be there before, including a strong smokey note.

I don't know what the moral of the story is, other than to say that I had quite a turn-around in feelings regarding this fragrance!

Are there other examples of this kind of heady, mysterious fragrance?

    Great description of Antaeus

M7 does not smell much like antaeus, but it does emanate the same feel.
