Interesting secret-news with the family holding company called Djedi Holding SA! But Jean-Paul was born in 1937, making him only 50 in 1987!

The 25 Guerlain heirs formed a family holding company, Djedi Holding SA, to group their interests. (from: http://www.answers.com/topic/guerlain?cat=biz-fin).

Sorry for bumping this old thread after so many years, but I also ordered a sample of "Djedi" and now I am almost afraid to try it when it arrives. What if I don't like it? "Djedi" seems to be something like the "holy grail" of perfumery, if I don't like it that would question my whole interest in perfumes and maybe I should quit this hobby, but we'll see!

Well, what did you think of your sample? Was it parfum or EDT?

Hello Kumquat, the sample hasn't arrived yet. I ordered it at STC, the shipping takes quite long to Germany. I ordered the Parfum as I assume that this is the real deal which people are raving about and not the EDT, right? As soon as it arrives and I sample it I will give some feedback.

Hi, Hoschhti, I hope it arrives soon! When you try it, notice the smoothness and intensity of the Vetiver. I think Djedi is mainly a floral Vetiver. So glad you got the parfum. It is more intense. The EDT has its merits too, but you really need to spray it. I was lucky and got some from the Perfumed Court back when they had it for sale.

    I received my sample!

Just one quick question: Is "Djedi" supposed to smell sweet? After half an hour it turns into a very sweet Rose/Cinnamon-scent! I hope it's just my skin-chemistry because in all the reviews there is no mentioning of sweetness and I REALLY like what I smell in the first 30 minutes! I will do some further testing on fabric, hopefully that will solve the "problem".

Yikes! I don't think I'd put it on fabric. It needs to meld with the warmth of your body. Yes, I think it has a cinnamon aspect. This will morph. There are times when I wonder if I still like it, then, I come around and think, damn, this is good! It is mainly Vetiver, but there are 'golden' floral tones. It may tend to be sweeter at times. Wait for the bread-like, musty, stone in the basement dry down.
