Default Heeley Cardinal, possibly the most wearable incense

I had wanted to try some of the Heeley scents after falling in love with Eau de Menthe. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long. I got Fine Leather, Cedre Blanc and Cardinal to test out.

Cardinal...easily compared to Avignon. I find Avignon artistic but practically unwearable. Cardinal...softer, CdG like but with some Scent Intense weaved in. Kyoto, others...just outrageous. There is a slight tinge of "soapy clean" but since I like soapy clean, that's fine by me. day, night, winter or summer, its beautiful and I will get me some.

    Has anyone else tried this?

Yes, I love Cardinal and blogged on it the other day, it's a very simple, pure, frankincense, really well done. Less baroque and more wearable than Avignon, though I love that one, too.

I'm still getting used to the 'soapy' incense scents - I really hadn't experienced this before, until I sniffed Zagorsk by Comme de Garcons (which in my opinion, is the 'soapiest' of the Incense Series by CdG)

It kind of turned me off a little when I first encountered it, but given a few minutes to drydown I am starting to enjoy the effect.

Do you know where I could buy Heeley samples?

Cardinal is a very wearable incense. Gave it to friends last Christmas. Love the effect which compared to Avignon, is an incense filled church, with light streaming through the stained glass windows. I do think Avignon is wearable, even though it is more austere, but it will likely draw more quizzical looks, as in..."did TNMA just come from a high church funeral?"

I am told that Heeleys are now available at Aedes in Greenwich Village. Will confirm and let all know.

Zagorsk is my favorite of the incense scents that I have owned or tested. It opens with a piney green and soapy blast then the incense kicks in and stays til the end. The pine mostly stays too. Avignon is pure Catholic Funeral Mass smoky incense from start to finish. I really like the scent but am finding it less wearable. PG Querelle dries down to a nice soft incense. Right now the incense dry down scent seems to be pretty popular.

    Best regards,
    Mike
