Exclamation 3 Fragrances for 3 Lovely Ladies

First of all, this is my first post thread; so I hope to get a very good feedback on this forum.

Soon I'll be traveling to visit my girlfriend and her family. Thus, as a courtesy I want to purchase my girlfriend, her mother, and grandmother a nice fragrance for each of them.

I've been searching on the Internet for quite a while now and compiled a long list of fragrances for women.

My question to you is, would a particular fragrance be more suitable to each of them based on their ages? If so, could you please tell me out of this list which one would be the best for my girlfriend, her mother, and grandmother?

Goodness, that's quite a list! I have to admit I'm not familiar with most of them. I can say I wouldn't give Sexy Graffiti to her grandmother.

The main problem is not the ladies' age, but their personalities, taste, and what they may likely already have. You might have a good idea of this, as you generated that list somehow.

My mother is 74 and she knows nothing of any perfumes, as my father always despised them. He's had a stroke now, and lost his taste and smell, so she is indulging in fragrance for the first time. I gave her bottles and samples at Christmas. She was most crazy about Bulgari Rose Essentielle and kai parfum oil roll-on. The Serge Lutens Un Lys leaves her pretty cold--a sad fate for a lovely bell bottle, and a big surprise to me.
    Please, spritz responsibly.

    Ditto!

After snipping away the ones I'm not familiar with and the ones I don't like, these are left:
    5. Anais Anais Cacharel
    28. Jicky Guerlain
    29. L'Heure Bleue Guerlain
    30. Samsara Guerlain
    31. Shalimar Guerlain
    32. Shalimar Light Guerlain
    36. Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Jean Paul Gaultier
    40. Magie Noire Lancome
    56. Yohji Yohji Yamamoto
    64. Arome 3 D'Orsay

    and my picks would be:
for girlfriend: Anaïs Anaïs, any Guerlain, JPG, Yohji
for her mummy: any Guerlain, JPG, Magie Noire, Yohji, Arome 3
for her granny: any Guerlain, Magie Noire, Arome 3

But I still think that personality is much more indicative to the choice of scent than age.

I hope I didn't offended anyone by stating that age can be an indicator of what people might like or dislike.

Having said that, I just found out a moment ago who likes what.

My GF: Touch of Pink by Lacoste

My Mommy in Law: 212 Sexy by Carolina Herrera

My Granny in Law: Paloma Picasso by Paloma Picasso.

I hope this helps you in providing me with some good recommendations.

P.S. For the folks that made some suggestions above; today I tried some and I was very dissapointed, among those were Chance by Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier Classique by JPG. However, I must admit that what I might dislike, they might end up loving them.

Firstly I am intrigued as to where you got your list from! Is it perfumes you know you can source or is it that you are in the business?
I also wonder where you found out which perfumes they all love??

As Paloma Picasso is such an individual, BIG scent ( a chypre) I suggest you look for
something along the lines of Fendi or Jolie Madame (Balmain).
The mother may like Armani Code for Woman or Serge Lutens Fleur d'Oranger.
As for your girlfriend I'd play safe and get her the new Prada or one of the DIor/Chanels.

I notice you have Fidji on your list, and I've always considered that one to be a great fragrance for any age.

Welcome, Papi Chulo. You are one class act, providing the generations with gifts. If things don't work out with your girlfriend, I have a 27-y-o daughter I'd like you to meet.

Please take my advice and invest your money in a load of fragrance samples and present them in a pretty basket for the women to enjoy as they like. I promise you, they will have a delightful time trying and comparing a variety of scents, and they'll think you're a genius.

You'll find many of the scent samples on your list from this source for just $3 each.

I recommend the following: Stella McCartney, Shalimar Light, Jill Sander No. 4, Jean Paul Gaultier for Women.

I don't see the following at Scent Monkey, but I also highly recommend: Chanel No. 19, Jicky, Coco Mademoiselle.

Hahahaha...I am not in the fragrance industry, but I am sure addicted to fragrances.

The answer to your second question, I discretely asked my GF to provide me with that information.

Hahahahaha...aaaaaaawwwww...how sweet was that, thank you ma'am! Your daughter is actually around my age, I'm 28 y/o. However, I've been dating my GF since 2000 and her mother loves me too!!

I actually went last night to Nordstrom's to sample some fragrances. This great gal at Nordstrom was very friendly and polite that she showed me quite a bit of fragrances. She even gave free samples to take home, among those were:

    Princess by Vera Wang
    Kenzo Amour by Kenzo
    Flower by Kenzo
    FlowerBomb by Viktor & Rolf
Antidote by Viktor & Rolf (for myself)

And she even invited me to attend at Nordstrom's fragrance event this coming Sunday.

Well, last night before I went to bed I decided to try this samples on me. Here is what I noticed this morning. Princess, I could hardly smell it. Kenzo Amour, among those same lines, not enough staying power. FlowerBomb, this one did stay on my skin very nicely. Last but not least, Flower stayed perfectly on my skin as well; and it's very soft and not so overwhelming.

So far, I think I might give the Flower to my GF's mother, but I am still not sure about my GF and her grandmother. I'll certainly have to visit The Perfume House in order to sample the ones that all you have suggested on this forum, which I totally appreciate.

I do think you are on the right idea by testing samples yourself. Gives you a chance to think could I imagine GF's grandmother in this? etc.

Do let us know the outcome and if your choices met with success?

I'd recommend Donna Karan Black Cashmere for all three of them for starters. Granny probably isn't looking for a man (or maybe she is), I'm not sure about your Mother and your GF probably is looking. You shouldn't limit any of then to such an under-developed world of perfume.

Wow, that is a huuuuuge list.

    Here are my picks:

    Shalimar for her mum.
Shalimar Light or Vera Wang for your girlfriend.
Jicky or Samsara for her grandmother.

The outcome won't be known until some time in the first days of June, but will certainly share it with all of you.
