Not sure this qualifies for niche but it does not come from a mainstream fragrance house and is unusual. I'm really impressed with Infusion (2003) by Bombay Sapphire. This is a fragrance spin off from their line of Gin. Never smelled a fragrance like it before. Well worth looking into. You can get a very good idea of what it will smell like by smelling some of the Bombay Sapphire Gin. Don't look for it in stores, I've only been able to find it on Ebay and at a very reasonable price.

It's not a niche but not that many people know about it - Nemat White Musk oil. It lasts FOREVER and you can get a 4 oz. bottle of their website for $20 shipped.

Bond no. 9 Fire Island. It's not my favorite, but it's definitely summery. I second the Creed OV recommendation, & will also suggest Creed MI and SMW.

    Maestrale - Profumi di Pantelleria

    From luckyscent:

    Maestrale
    Eau de Toilette
    by Profumi di Pantelleria

    the scoop
A man wearing rolled-up jeans and a weathered white pullover made of thick wool walks along the beach at sunset, in the calm that always follows a stormy Mistral high tide. Light-footed and fancy free, he breathes in the fresh bite of aromas enhanced by the forces of nature. Salty sea air, the damp wood of a burnt-out bonfire, a vague sense of exotic spices and citrus trees, the unmistakable briny aroma of seaweed washed up on the beach. The mysterious appeal of the coast in winter, solitary and poetic, real and intense is framed by the deep blue of the sea and the grey of the cliffs and the rocky beach. A magical hybrid between a seadog and a poet. A thinking man, sincere and simple, who knows how to appreciate nature's tiniest messages.

Maestrale captures the surreal peacefulness that follows the howl of the surf-ridden sea... Delicate citrusy and aromatic top notes are a prelude to a flowery, spicy middle that rests on woody, green and amber bottom notes. Timeless and introspective.

    Maestrale notes
bergamot, lavender, rhubarb, rum, jasmine, iris, cardomom, coriander, cedarwood, vetiver, ambrette seeds

This sounds great. I have to try it out.

From what I have, I would say MI by Creed and L'eau de l'artisan although the latter has no lasting power on me.
