Exclamation Cologne stains on work-shirt collars

I've completely trashed three favourite work shirts with cologne!

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the browny-yellow stains on the collar of my shirts from the colognes I wear?

I've tried Clorox OxyAction Stain Remover, did a search on the net and some site said to use vinegar, and nothing worked! If anything, the Clorox made the stains worse by making them even browner.

    Please help!

This used to happen to me too. I'm surprised Clorox didnt work for you. It worked for me just fine. Also, you may want to try a liquid detergent like Tide or Wisk. Remember those old tv commercials "ring around the collar"? Pour the liquid on the stain and let it set for a while. That should do the trick.

Shout works for most stains for me. Don't know if you have it in Aussieland. If not then just try liquid detergent full strength like rosbergs said.

Side note - what makes you think it is caused by cologne and not just perpiration? I have never noticed any effect of cologne on my clothing, but sweat certainly creates ring-around-the-collar...

SL Arabie leaves a bright yellow mess on my oh-so-pale skin, and I've noticed others leave a slight mark. I've also seen quite a few warnings about not spraying certain scents on clothes.

I would try this: pre-treat with a stain remover at the end of the day when you undress. Make sure it is one that can handle sitting for a few days, some can't. Then add to your laundry hamper. And do your laundry more often Seriously, if you do it twice a week there will be less staining.

Oh and one more thing... If you aren't sure the stain came out, air dry. The heat of the dryer will set the stain, making it much harder to remove later.

    Thanks guys.

We don't have Shout, Wisk or Tide in Australia - never even heard of them before, lol!

I'll give the stain remover a try. There's a product called "Sard WonderSoap" here that's supposed to be really good for removing stains, so i'll give that a whorl. Didn't even think of using a stain remover! What a dummy am I!

I've just started getting into fragrances, and honest to god I think I'm getting obsessed with them. Just can't get enough of them! Scary thought.
