Default Not totally new, but hoping for a recommendation

    Hi all,

Just after a quick recommendation from y'all if it's not too much trouble.

I like to have a new frag for each period of my life, and since I'm starting a year of college soon I'd like to get something new.

Last year was Antaeus, which I really liked, and felt went fairly well with my persona - but not perfectly. I picked up some Vetiver by Guerlain after trying some and loving it, but the "wow" has very much worn off and I can't say I find it that appealing any longer. I guess I like quite masculine stuff, refined and confident is the name of my game.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly apreciated.

Not a lot of info to go on specofdust...but I'll try.

Masculine, confident = Gucci Pour Homme by Gucci (the original NOT Gucci Pour Homme II) or Rive Gauche Pour Homme by Yves St. Laurent were the first two to come to mind.

Of course my recommendations could be MUCH more specific if you gave me notes (wood, incense, fruit, herbs) that you prefer or those you do NOT prefer.

    Good luck!

Hi there, thanks for the response. Unforunately I don't really know what notes I like. I'm fairly rubbish at picking out individual notes, even when I know what I'm smelling for. Is there anything else I can give that would make suggestions easier?

I've heard good things about Gucci's Pour Homme so I shall try that out next time I'm able to, thanks.

OK - how about this: What PARTS of Antaeus and Guerlain Vetiver did you like? The 'green' grassy smell, the smoke, the musky drydown, etc...?

What about Dolce and Gabbana pour Homme or Chanel pour Monsieur?

I like the suggesting so far. I second them all.

I've been trying Mike, but I'm really not sure I'm able to identify which parts of Antaeus I really enjoy. I just know that I like it

Chanel pour Monsieur I love, but another family member wears it so it'd be a little odd for me. I'll add D&G pour Homme to my list of things to try. Thanks again everyone.

Well I've finally been exploring, and have tried both D&G pour homme and Gucci pour homme.

I wasn't impressed by the Gucci, I just smelled and overwhelmingly musky smell, that almost seemed like it bordered some peoples body odour. It wasn't outright bad, but I didn't really feel I'd want to be wearing it on a regular basis.

The D&G was nicer though, there seemed to be almost some fruit or something in it. It felt colourfull and I'm tempted to get it even though it's not quite hit me as the perfect "me" scent.
