Default A blast from the past: The Guerlains on naturals & other articles

Post-war made importing expensive "masculine" ingredients became prohibitive.

Jean Guerlain: ".... It takes real musk to make a woman smell like a lady."

    Oui Oui !

    An article from 1947:

An early article (1994) on Patricia de Nicolia, grand-daughter of Pierre Guerlain:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hirsch looked at the effects of aromas on visual perception, especially on the perception of weight, and found that men perceived a woman wearing a floral smell to be 12lb lighter than she really was."

    Thanks for the links.

From the 1947 Time article; Guerlain said, "That would leave them free to concentrate on (making) luxury (fragrance) products, selling for $15 a bottle and up."

That translates to $140/102 euro today.
