Default Who are the Perfumers for Comme des Garçons?

    Hey,

I'm kind of curious about something. Does anybody know who the actual perfumers are that are behind the individual fragrances of Comme des Garçons? I'm dying to know. With most fragrances, you can find out who the perfumer was. I don't see much info about CdG. Once, there was a review of Rose from the Red Series on Luckyscent and the perfumer that created it posted a comment.

Even though these two scents are nothing alike, I have a suspicion that Calamus and Zagorsk may have been created by the same nose.

    Does anybody know?

I believe Mark Buxton made most of the Comme des Garcons line.
From the red series Palisander was made by Yann Vasnier who also made the scents for Divine ( L'Homme Sage etc.)

I looked it up from the Now Smell This blog, : http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/b...umersAtoG.html

I just saw , on that same website that Bertrand Duchaufour also made some of 'em , Avignon amongst others.
    That's 3 perfumers already,..wow!

I thought it was Puig cosmetics.

... a la the same logic, the maker of Harissa must be the one behind Odeur 71. I detect the smell of breath vapor on a cold glass pane in both. Grotesque but hot 'n' cool.
    CdG are overrated, nevertheless. LOL.

One of the Guerrillas was made by one of the people behind Hermès' Eau des Merveilles, which surprised me in the end when I realized how bad both the Guerillas smell (bad as in poorly created fragrances). Mark Buxton has made a bunch of the good ones though ^_^

Yes, Nathalie Feisthauer created Eau des Merveilles by Hermes and Guerilla 2 by CdG. Wild, huh?

I hated Guerilla 2 upon first sniff (I own Guerilla 1) and thought it smelled too much like marijuana. But I re-sniffed recently and found it a little more 'complex' upon resniff (the rose in G2 is quite macabre - similar to No. 88's). Although still G2 is NOT for me.

Puig's involvement is just as a distributor for the more mainstream/popular CDG lines.

I know that Sophie Labbe did create the fantastic Series 1 Tea - this is certain. Then, I also think she made Burnt Sugar, which very obviously has the same accords as Tea. These two are 60% the same scent, imo.

And call me crazy, but I sense that same signarture accord very clearly in Dry Clean(!) too, so my guess is that Labbe also is the nose behind that one also.

It is, indeed, certain that Sophie Labbe did create CdG Tea.

IFF, for which she works, created the Synthetic series for Comme des Garçons, so it is very likely that she may have had some input in the creation of at least the Dry Clean fragrance. I am in the process of verifying that.

I have added Sophie Labbe and CdG Tea to my list. Thanks PigeonMurder.

You're definitely more than welcome Indie. It was some CdG samples more specifically CdG 2 EDP that you sent me a couple of years ago, that got me hook on CdG. Think of this as a small repayment of a huge debt of gratitude I owe you in with regard to anything related to CdG.

No I don't think BS and Tea are of any similarities. Except that I like both of them:-P
    Thanks for the info.

Scentemental: I just read (online blog) that Odeur 53 was also created in collaboration with Anne-Sophie Chapuis as well as Martine Pallix, who you mention above. Can you verify this?

You might want to verify it with the actual blogger. My source just has Martine Pallix, but many times there is a lead perfumer who finishes the fragrance and gets credited with it, but if Anne-Sophie Chapius is mentioned somewhere as a collaborator will Pallix in a legitimate source, then I think she should be added to the list.

LMK Mike when you find out if the source is a valid one from the blogger.
