Default Suggestions for Young Masculine Scents

    Hello all,

Would be curious to get some feedback on some youthfull masculine scents that I (a 21 year old) could wear and would smell good with. I say young because there is the Bois de Portugal, among many other scents, that are masculine...but would most likely smell too "old" on me. I'm trying to take a break from some of the sweeter fragrances.

I think a 21 year old can pull off Green Irish Tweed. Rochas Lui or Carven Homme would be two less expensive choices.

    Hmm, lets see...

    Parfums de Nicolai New York
    L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe
    Annick Goutal Mandragore
    Annick Goutal Eau du Sud
Creed Baie de Geneivre would probably be a better choice for you if you like Bois du Portugal but find it too rich - Geneivre is certainly much different but its spicy in a different way - might appeal to you.
    Miller Harris Terre de Bois
    Serge Lutens Vetiver Oriental
    --------------------------------------
Ooh, and ETRO'S New Tradition is a stunner as well - quite young but very refined and just plain wonderful. The entire ETRO line is worth a sniff if you can ever get to a place that carries it.

First thing that popped into my mind was L'eau D'Issey. Armani Code would be another good one.

Devon and Tuscany both worked well for me at your age. I concur on Green Irish Tweed, Fou d'Absinthe, and Eau du Sud. A few others woth looking in to are:

    Tam Dao
    L'Ombre dans l'Eau
    Philosykos
    Mechant Loup (for winter)
L'Anarchiste (though it could be a little sweet for you)
    Eau Sauvage
    Silver Mountain Water
    Garrigue
    Iskander
Nostalgia (smells like a new car)

Have a look at the Basenotes reviews on some of these and see if any sound promising.

    Good luck!

The thing is, *young* scent generally does mean sweet scent...

so to meet the subject line I'd suggest:
Conquest - Agatha Brown (not cheap, but well made, EdP (regardless of packaging) it's like a more sophisticated version of KC Reaction)

If you really want something dry, I'd suggest:
    Baldessarini - Hugo Boss

I suggest that you go to a store and buy whatever smells good, like Bois Du Portugal. No one except people who are fragrance hobbiests would either categorize or care about how "old" a fragrance supposedly makes one feel.

I see young people buying "old" scents and older people buying "young" scents in all the stores in NYC. And people I speak with dismiss this thinking as one dreamed up by hobbiests or "fanatics".
