    Default New: YSL "Elle"

    I've sniffed 'elle' yesterday & it is Stella Mcartny + patchouli - which represent the masculine touch according to the brief- , very disappointing even the SA at YSL counter complained that YSL used to be a trend setter & know it follows the others, it is too thick & makes me uncomfortable.
    the bottle looks ok in real due to the bright fauschia but it is not YSL standard.
    & the price for a 50 ml bottle is 90$ !!! what a shame to YSL history & Jacques Cavallier too who could have created somthing better. .
    the SA told me that Stefano Pilati has no control on the beaute sector, it is Chantal Ross just unlike Tom Ford who used to take responsiblty on the aroma, packaging & campaign... well Pilati clothes are well designed & respects Yves culture I hope he would have some control in the future to save this beautiful house.

    well here are brifes about ELLE:

    {ELLE is for liberty… and love
    ‘Elle’ is modern, chic, urban, and just a shade bohemian. A free and singular woman, steeped in art, a muse, bold, in love… ‘Elle’ is the new perfume from couturier Saint Laurent, coming in October. The name echoes their successful men’s scent L’Homme, launched in 2006. The fuchsia-pink bottle reveals a fresh, floral-woodsy juice, with notes of patchouli, Bourbon vetiver, citron, litchi, peony, pink pepper and freesia, designed by Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier.}

    {Yves Saint Laurent will launch in October. Like last year's L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent, the new fragrance is geared towards a young market.
    Opening with citron and lychee smoothed by peony, the fragrance follows with a vibrant heart of jasmin sambac and pink berries and ends with woody notes of patchouli and vetiver. In its brief to the perfumers, YSL described a modern and urban woman, very feminine but with a touch of the masculine...}

    check out the web site:

    [ Elle by Yves Saint Laurent: Discover it First in Second Life & on its Own Site

    The internet is not yet scented, but it might very well be one day in the not-so-distant future. Meanwhile perfume brands like Yves Saint Laurent are becoming more and more present on the world wide web.........

    To help kick start its campaign for its new major feminine fragrance, Elle, Yves Saint Laurent is extending an invitation to perfume afcionados to come discover the new perfume in Second Life on October 1st 2007 at 8 pm (we are assuming Paris local time). The tag line for the advertising campaign is "Qui est elle?"/"Who is Elle?".

    You can go visit this YSL-Elle website where a teaser is already showing a model seen from her back dressed in an Yves Saint Laurent blazer outfit walking in front of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.

    This year YSL is promoting the cause of Art and is a partner of the annual FIAC (International Art Modern Exhibition) at the Grand Palais Louvre, Paris. ]

    This has finally hit the UK market.

    The sa thought it very light and fades quickly. I agreed and said no doubt aimed at the youth market and she thought so too.
    It is pretty harmless to be honest not much patchouli, think they might have shown the juice some and then took it away quickly. LOL

    Lets put it this way Angel and Prada could bitch slap it in ten seconds flat.

    I feel that 'elle' has a strong presense it a 'thick' fragrance in an annoying way & whenever my wifes wear it.. the aroma spreads all over the house & even stick on the sofa.

    Just what is it with perfumers at YSL?

    The last stand alone frag (that's not yet another flanker) they created was Young Sexy Lovely, wich was a one hit wonder in Asia and quickly faded into oblivion and got critically panned (mostly due to the name and implications) all across the western hemisphere. As bland as they come but pretty.

    And now we get Elle which is going in the same direction, a lot of people aren't liking it, they're getting it cause it's the "new" thing by YSL.

    i'm not going deep into the whole YSL's L'Homme debate...but i'll say that one is very safe and bland as well. But "pretty" if i can say that of a man's scent.

    I feel that YSL Beaute needs a real 'Creative Director' not a 'Financial Director'.

    I mean after Mr. Saint Laurent retirement there was Tom Ford -who brought to YSL NU, M7, Rive Gauche ph & Cinema- but now I feel no one is there with a creative artistic mind, only a group of financial who wants cash...even Stefano Pilati has no control on the Beaute sector as I have heared

    note:NU is to be discontinued.
    the site is active now ..the ad is so cool, & there is an interview video with noses J. Cavallier & O. Cresp that you can find in the images sector
