Does anyone remember the original 1970's Lentheric Just Musk perfume, it came in a oblong bottle with a black top?. It was pale yellow in colour. The reason I'm asking is because it was the first grown up perfume I brought with my pocket money, from my Mum's catalogue, it came in a gift set with matching talcum powder and cost about £7.00. I payed for it so much a week. Can you still buy it from anywhere?

Oddly, this one is still "available" in the UK. A google search stated it was still called "just Musk" and it was "Formerly Lentheric" now made by a company called Mayfair.

    I miss Lentheric!

I prefer the cologne in the bronze / gold cap with orange jus. Lasts just as long as an EDT / EDP with EDP strength sillage.

I do really lust after the square bottle with the clear jus. It is so cute - but sadly I do not like the jus enough to buy it. Personally I feel that they took the 'sex' out of it and now it is a parody of its sexy self.

Anyway, if you don't mind buying online, here is a link to the formulation you are looking for. Very, very affordable so you can stock up a little...:

As another option, may I humbly suggest you checkout Vivienne Westwood Boudoir as a viable alternative to Lentheric Just Musk. It is more complex and has a lot more floral going on in the heart notes but the character and dry down are very similar. That may help ease your Just Musk craving...

I heard the one made by Mayfair is different to the 70's one

The company formerly made some very fine scents, but the Web site looks like they sell toiletries.

for those who wants one...it's been discontinued since 92 so you won't find it in shops, only online.

Longshot, this one, but is anyone familiar with this stuff? Lentheric Style - perfume cologne spray:

I picked it up in a charity shop today and I think I'm going to give it to a chum but I wondered if anyone knows roughly what the notes are in it? It reminds me a little of Bal a Versialles so far: big, powdery kinda white musk/lily/rose sorta thang (a nose, I'm not). I'd be interested if anyone knew more.

    Great post, Ralph.

My father wore Onyx by Lentheric in the 1960s, a floral leather dandy scent if there ever was.

According to Perfume Intelligence site, Style is floral-fruity chypre marketed for women and first launched back in 1987 and discontinued since. There is no word about the notes.

Before giving it away, decant a little bit for yourself -- do not make mistakes I have made on so many occasions.

Yeah, it's actually pretty good stuff. It's about my bag as much as BaV is, which is to say: not all that much, really - but I can tell it's nicely put together.

It also instantly transports me back to my childhood. Not so much the specific fragrance, more the perfume culture of the 70's to which - to my nose, at least - it absolutely belongs. Evocative stuff.

Oh, Lentheric! It brings back memories as a teen, saving up my weekend job pay to dash off to the chemist to buy a bottle of Joie de Vivre, Style, Finesse and Mystique. Did you ever gift that bottle of Style Ralph? I would seriously be interested if its still lying around

I'm terribly sorry but this bottle is long gone now. But stick a search on Ebay that emails you when a new one turns up & you'll snag a bottle in no time (probably!).

Remember Tweed? This bottle is probably from the 1940s.

Tweed is probably their most iconic fragrance, given its still widely in production today. I think part of its success is due to the fact that it was/is so affordable and had definite presence on anyone who wore it.

Panache was another one- fabulously powdery, feminine and timeless.
