    Default Deep Forest by Bogner.

    http://www.basenotes.net/ID26120442.html
Does it deserve its own thread?I think that yes!It was a blind buy, following a suggestion by a fellow Basenoter.Extra strong, powdery and very true to its name. Not irrationaly expensive in my opinion. And I cannnot find something similar to compare it to. (according to my limited experience).Highly recommended indeed.
Anybody having sampled /owned this one?

I have owned this in the nineties, but I have to dig deep in my memoy to give a good description.
Warm, spicy scent with patchouly if I remember. At that time , barbershop smells came to mind ,like Tabac or something. Green, warm and patchouly. At that time I liked it very much.
But don't shoot me if I'm totally wrong though!

The scent has been discontinued I think.

At the time Bogner was a brand of Lancaster / Coty. Coty made some fine fragrances back then, like Davidoff Zino, Relax etc., not to compare with the celebrity crap they pull out today .

All Bogner scents are excellent but extreme hard to find.

Deep Forest - what I would not do to get my hands on a bottle. Another great one is called simply Wood - this one makes Visit shy in comparison.

Don't know if anyone's interested but it looks like beautyencounter has this now for a pretty decent price here.

Some time back this was discussed here a lot and was pretty hard to get and somewhat expensive.

Just thought I'd let anyone interested know.

    Default Bogner Deep Forest?

I'm curious to know if any of you have smelled this before and what you think about it.

Oh, yes. Love it and own a number of backup bottles. I especially like Naed_Nitram's review in the directory. An enchanted forest, indeed.

It has chypre elements, bergamot in the top, a bit of patchouli in the middle, and oakmoss and labdanum in the base. But it isn't a green fragrance. The overall effect is almost like a mild, spicy, woody Oriental. It is warm, soft, and powdery, comforting rather than challenging.

    Wow...looks like we've got a fan!

    Thanks for your reply.

Are there any more well-known fragrances to which it bears a similarity or that you could compare it to?

    Carven Homme? L'Instant? New York?

Deep Forest has a "holy grail" reputation due to its rarity. In my opinion, it is a pleasant spice-musk scent, but nothing more. For an extended discussion, please enter the hallowed halls of the Conehead group where I have some notes...

That's a great review. Even as I read it and understand it intellectually, my brain is having a difficult time reconciling the name "Deep Forest", the color of the bottle, and the picture on the box with the notion of a spicy 'nutmeg' scent. Kind of like if I were to blind order it today and it arrived and smelled like nutmeg I would still be surprised by it.

    Default Deep Forest by Bogner

    Hello Basenoters,

I have found a bottle of this online here in Australia. I know this is discontinued and hard to find (at least here- I don't know about the rest of the world) so would you buy it if you came across it? I see there's some very good reviews here and it sounds like a lovely scent.

    Bottle worthy?

    Many thanks,

    Koala.

An excellent perfume, green dark incense, pre-Avignon style. Definite buy - and if you do not like it, you will always find people to take it off your hands at a very good price.
