    Default A good cypress scent?

Is there such a thing. It´s often a nice ingredient in soap and if they only mixed the cypress with a few fresh notes (not marine...) you would probably end up with a very nice daytime cologne. I´m not talking about the musky conifer colognes but rather a feelgood scent with a noticeable cypress note. A lot of my favourite fragrances have a cypress note listed; Gucci Rush and Hermés Rocabar to mention a few. Cipresso di Toscana was a little too quiet and short-lived for me.

Where are the prominent cypress notes in mens fragrances. Is cypress being bullied by other woods and conifers? The old "pine sol" cleaning product conspiracy. Stop hiding behind your own insecurity. No more, I say! Cypress is also a note worth promoting. Am I right? What are your favourite cypress fragrances????

Tobbe, I'm with you; well done cypress can be amazing. You told you don't want it to be too musky, well, don't let the name fool you, it really is not that; Cyprés-Musc is easily one of my favourite Creeds. Musk is there only to soften the sharp notes of cypress and bergamot. It's the balance of kind of harsh topnotes and soft base that makes this so special and wearable. You asked for a feel good scent; I guess this could be one.

Cypres Musc is certainly one of the best.

Make Cyprès-Musc a priority to try.
As others have pointed out in this thread, its musk is by no means obtrusive, and its green cypress notes downright brilliant --
very green, very obvious, very essential to the frag itself.
Cyprès-Musc is easily one of the most overlooked of all the Creeds.

try Lalique's Encre Noir. It's heavy on the Cypress and the Vetiver.

I would recommend Jack Black Silver Mark as a salty like cypress.

Good suggestion! I like that Jack Black very much (the cedar's nice, too), and JB fragrances don't get NEAR enough play here on BN!

I will echo the enthusiasm for Cyprés-Musc!

Reasonably priced 2.5 oz testers are currently available for $40 (US) plus shipping on eBay from creedirect. See:

I'm in agreement with Cypres Musc.

Another scent with a good dose of cypress is Rocabar by Hermes.

I've certainly tried to like Rocabar, but actually the cypress in Rocabar is not as resinous, fresh and good as Cypres Musc's.

I agree 100% -- CM is the best of the bunch. I mentioned Rocabar because, to my nose, it has a very noticeable cypress note.

the underrated and discontinued Extreme Polo Sport has a substantial cypress note that is matched with intense black pepper. I always got tons of compliments on it. It's really unique--incredible on the skin. One of my favorite scents ever made.

I could be wrong but doesn't Tam Dao have quite a but of cypress in its top and midnotes? There's definitely some green wood in there that isn't sandalwood.

Which one? I own Everlast (Cactus Shot) and I don't get any cypress from it at all.

It was a gift (from my boyfriend) and I kind of hated it at first but then have begun to appreciate it as what it is: an almost exact copy of Un Jardin Mediteranee by Hermes in its top notes, that dries down into a very synthetic musk and this disappears in about an hour. I wear it to the gym sometimes...

Send me a PM if you'd like a sample of it.
